II. Session Outline IRIGA CITY
Session Title: Exploring Different Ways of Expressing Love

Session At the end of the session, learners will be able to:

Objectives:
a) understand the concepts of gender equality and gender
stereotyping,
b) recognize their impact on individuals and society,
c) develop strategies to challenge stereotypes and promote
equality.

Key Concepts:

• Gender Equality: This concept refers to the belief that all

individuals, regardless of their gender, should have equal rights,
opportunities, and treatment in all aspects of life, including
education, employment, and social interactions.

• Gender Stereotyping: This concept involves the preconceived

notions and expectations society has about how individuals should
behave or present themselves based on their gender. It often leads
to unfair judgments, limitations, and discrimination against
individuals who do not conform to these stereotypes.

• Impact on Individuals: Understanding the impact of gender

equality and gender stereotyping is crucial. It helps pupils recognize
how stereotypes can limit individual potential, create societal
biases, and perpetuate inequality in various areas such as
education, career choices, and personal relationships.

• Impact on Society: Exploring the impact of gender equality

and gender stereotyping on society is important for pupils to
understand how these concepts shape cultural norms, social roles,
power dynamics, and overall social progress. By challenging
stereotypes and promoting equality, students can contribute to
creating a more inclusive and equitable society.

 Strategies to Challenge Stereotypes: Students will learn

strategies to challenge gender stereotypes by questioning,
assumptions, promoting empathy and understanding among
peers, engaging in critical thinking about media portrayals of
gender roles, supporting inclusive language use, and
advocating for equal opportunities for all genders.

 Strategies to Promote Equality: Pupils will explore strategies

to promote gender equality by encouraging open dialogue
about diversity and inclusion in classrooms and
communities; fostering a safe space for everyone's voices to
be heard; educating others about the importance of equal
rights; supporting initiatives that promote equal access to
education or employment opportunities; celebrating
achievements of individuals breaking stereotypes.
