-is a picture formed by word or words.


-conveys the idea that an image can tell a story.
Iconography
-"eikon" means "image" and "graphe" means
"writing"
Ideographs
-is a symbol that represents an idea or a
thing, rather than the sounds of a word.

Pictographs
-a graphical symbol that conveys meanung through its
visual resemblance to a physical object.

Cuneiform
-is one of the oldest forms of writing known. It means
"wedge-shaped," because people wrote it using a reed
stylus cut to make a wedge-shaped mark on a clay
tablet. Letters enclosed in clay envelopes, as well as
works of literature.
Phonetic
-sounds of every letters.

Homophones
-having the same pronounciation but
different meaning, spelling or origins.
•The Egyptian writing developed
three different types of symbol
system namely:
1. Hieroglyphics
2. Hierotic
3. Demotic
Phoenician
-credited with the spread of the first
alphabet from 1,200 to 900 BC.

Classes of writing:
1. Calligraphy
-for book hand form.
2. Tachygraphy
-for document hand form.

Minuscules
-small letters in the alphabet.

Greek Alphabet
Roman Alphabet:
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, K, L, M, N,
O, P, Q, R, S, T, V, X, Y and Z.
