RUCO 1026
COMPOSITION C6-Fluorocarbon polymer, dissolved in solvent
Free of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA*) and perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS*)
USES For a water, oil and soil-repellent finish of all fibre types
APPLICATION RUCO 1026 is diluted with a solvent and applied via suitable machines. The selection of the
solvent influences the solubility as well as the water and oil-repellent properties of RUCO
1026. Preferred solvents are isopropyl alcohol and butyl acetate.
STORAGE If stored below 0 °C, the product may solidify and/or change its consistency. There can be
slight sedimentations in the drum/container during storage. After heating to 20 - 25 °C and
thorough mixing, the product can be used again without any problems.

ATTENTION The above recommendations are based on comprehensive studies and practical
experience. They are, however, without liability regarding property rights of third parties and
foreign laws. The user should test for himself whether the product and the application are
suited for his very special purposes.
The shelf-life of formulations with RUCO 1026 has to be checked in the respective solvent.
We are, above all, not liable for fields and methods of application which have not been put
down by us in writing.
Advice for labelling regulations and protective measures can be taken from the respective
safety data sheet.
*) For producing fluorocarbon polymers, RUDOLF GmbH uses monomers from a process
in which, as intended, no perfluorooctanesulphonic acid (PFOS) arises as a by-product.

Declaration on the use of RUCO 1026

Since the inception of REACH on June 1 , 2007, the requirements of communication in the supply chain have increased.
To in future assure the safe and successful use of our products as a component in yours, we would like to once again
inform you of the safety of our products in aerosol applications.
As a protection from moisture and dirt, clothing, shoes, etc. are treated with impregnating agents. However, if inhaled
due to improper use, aerosols may cause health problems. In the past, the improper aerosol application of impregnating
agents has caused irritations of the respiratory tract.
To ensure the proper use of impregnating agents which comprise our active ingredient RUCO 1026, we would like to
inform our customers in detail of possible risks.
A major risk of aerosol application is the stress of the lungs due to spray, which, amongst other things, depends on
particle size, exposure time, type and quantity of solvents used as well as on the concentration in the air inhaled.
The particle size of aerosols can be influenced by the correct selection of the spray head, spray pressure as well as
solvent system. It has to be observed that the smallest particle size of the aerosol mist arising after spraying does not fall
below 10 μm at any time to rule out that it reaches the aveoles of the respiratory tract. European health authorities
recommended the value of 10 μm in April 2008 to rule out any medical risk.
Moreover, the proper labelling of aerosol cans has to be observed.
Even if applied in professional areas (spraying installation) it has to be observed that aerosols are not inhaled during or
after their application, which has to be ensured by respiratory protection or discharge installations. It is imperative to
avoid improper use.
Please note that the results of the “Acute Aerosol Inhalation Test“ commissioned by RUDOLF GMBH are exclusively
valid for the recipe and particle size indicated in the test (particle size >1.5 μm).
At any rate, the downstream user (canning person or formulating manufacturer) shall be responsible for the formulation
recipe.
If the recipe is modified (eg by changing the solvent’s composition), the inhalation toxicity test is no longer valid.
We explicitly point out that the generation of particles of below 1.5 μm may cause aerosol toxicity. Based on the
recommendations of European health authorities, we consider it necessary to comply with a value of >10 μm to rule out
any health hazardous.
In the case of unauthorised application, you indemnify us from any liability put forth by third parties against RUDOLF
GMBH or persons acting for RUDOLF GMBH.
In addition, please pay attention to the instructions in Chapter 2 (hazards identification), Chapter 8 (exposure controls
and personal protection) and Chapter 11 (toxicological information) of the material safety data sheet.
