Security Measures in Cairo

Cairo International Airport has a number of security measures in place to

protect passengers and ensure the safety of the airport. These measures include:
▪ Baggage screening: All baggage is screened for explosives and other
prohibited items before it is allowed to enter the airport.
▪ Body screening: Passengers are screened for weapons and other prohibited
items using metal detectors and X-ray machines.
▪ Patdowns: Passengers may be subjected to a patdown if the security officer
believes that they may be carrying a prohibited item.
▪ K9 units: K9 units are used to sniff out explosives and other prohibited items.
▪ Closed-circuit television: The airport is monitored by closed-circuit television
cameras, which help to deter crime and identify potential threats.
In addition to these security measures, there are a number of security measures
available in transfers for the airport to any hotel in Cairo. These measures
include:
▪ Private transfers: Private transfers are the most secure way to travel from the
airport to your hotel. These transfers are typically arranged through a travel
agency or tour company, and they use vehicles that have been vetted by the
security forces, for more information and contact details please see pages 2+3.
▪ Shared transfers: Shared transfers are less expensive than private transfers,
but they are not as secure. These transfers typically use public buses or vans,
which are not as tightly controlled as private vehicles.
▪ Taxis: Taxis are the most common way to travel from the airport to your hotel,
but they are not the most secure. Taxis are not subject to the same security
checks as private vehicles, and they are often used by criminals to transport
weapons and other prohibited items.
▪ If you are concerned about security, it is best to choose a private transfer or a
shared transfer that uses a vetted vehicle. You should also avoid taking taxis
from the airport, as they are the least secure option.
