1. A cylinder vessel of volume 1 litre having linear expansion coefficient of α is completely filled with a

3. A U tube of area 100 cm2 contains water. A wooden block of area 50 cm2 and density 500 kg/m3 is
floating in the right limb. The height of wooden block is 16 cm. If the block is slowly pushed so that it is

5. A large tank is filled with water (density = 103 kg/m3). A small hole is made at a depth of 10 m below
water surface. The range of water issuing out of the hole is R on ground. What extra pressure (in atm) must
be applied on the water surface so that the range becomes 2R. (Take 1 atm = 105 Pa and g = 10 m/s2)
6. The internal energy of a monatomic ideal gas is 1.5 nRT. One mole of helium is kept in a cylinder of
cross-section 8.4 cm2. The cylinder is closed by a light frictionless piston. The gas is heated slowly in a
process during which a total of 42 J heat is given to the gas. The temperature rises through 2°C. The
distance moved by the piston is given as α × 10 β m in scientific notation. Find the value of α + β .
