CHAPTER ll

2.1 Brief background of study

Food is one of the basic necessities of life. The history of sushi began with paddy fields, where
fish was fermented with vinegar, salt and rice, after which the rice was discarded. Originally
sushi was developed in Southeast Asia between the 5th and 3rd centuries BC as a way of
preserving raw fish in fermented rice, gutted and salted fish wrapped in fermented rice was
stored for months without spoiling. The practice spread to South China before being introduced
to Japan around the 8th century. In Japanese, the word sushi means “ Sour Rice ” ( The rice is
traditionally moistened with rice vinegar. We thought of the Sushitun product because of this our
generation now that we will now adopt the culture of Korean or Japan because of the being fan
girling or fanboy of other that’s why we thought to make this product. Our product is sushi but
our sushi is Filipino version we make our own ingredients and it is a Filipino tuna rice with nori
(seaweed nori). Sushitun attracts young or oldest people and will attract the tourist and most of
all sushitun is new in their taste and ears and we will make sure that other people’s will enjoy to
eat our product not because it is new to their eyes and ears but because it’s a Filipino version.
