This document provides a technical description of a packaged reciprocating compressor on a horizontal receiver. The compressor package includes a two-stage, air-cooled reciprocating compressor with aluminum and cast iron construction. It also includes a 10HP electric motor, V-belt transmission, horizontal receiver, safety valves, and automatic pressure regulation controlled by a pressure switch. The compressor is designed to deliver compressed air at up to 11 bar gauge with a free air delivery of 862 liters per minute and weighs approximately 295 kilograms as a complete packaged unit.
Gas-Engines and Producer-Gas Plants
A Practice Treatise Setting Forth the Principles of Gas-Engines and Producer Design, the Selection and Installation of an Engine, Conditions of Perfect Operation, Producer-Gas Engines and Their Possibilities, the Care of Gas-Engines and Producer-Gas Plants, with a Chapter on Volatile Hydrocarbon and Oil Engines

PACKAGED RECIPROCATING COMPRESSOR ON HORIZONTAL RECEIVER
ALUMINIUM RANGE - MODEL BD10 / _F / 3
Main components:
Qty 1 BD130/65 bare compressor
Reciprocating compressor, two stage, air-cooled, splash lubricated, belt driven, aluminium and cast iron construction, with the following main characteristics: FRAME: aluminium, with separate sump plate for easy access; CRANKSHAFT: steel construction, integral counterweight, supported by two heavy duty ball bearings; CONNECTING RODS: aluminium construction, with two piece shell bearing to protect the conrod from wear. Integral dipper pin for better splash lubrication; CYLINDERS: Cast iron for high resistance to wear and greater thermal stability, separately cast, with radial cooling fins PISTONS: aluminium, operating in opposite phase for the best balance of forces; VALVES: aluminium valve plate assembled with stainless steel ring valves LUBRICATION: the compressor is factory-filled with an SAE40 break-in oil that should be changed at 100 hours. We recommend the use of Ingersoll-Rand reciprocating compressor oil at the first change out, after having changed and flushed the crankcase from the break-in oil. This will enable you to run 300 hours of service or 6 months between changes.
The scope of supply also includes the following components:
controlled by a pressure switch, supplied by I-R. At the maximum required pressure the pressure switch stops the motor. When pressure falls below minimum set value, the motor is started and the compressor starts to work again. The pressure switch is factory set, but can be adjusted at any required pressure (within the max. working pressure of the compressor). This regulation is used if the compressor works on stand-by or when air demand is intermittent. To preserve the motor life, we recommend sizing the compressor so that the pressure switch does not start & stop the unit more than 6 times per hour. 730803052.doc Page 1 of 3 Compressor characteristics and working conditions: number of stages 2 number of cylinders 2 rotation speed rpm 1188 inlet pressure atmospheric piston displacement l./min. 1105 max. working pressure bar.g 11 free air delivery l./min. 862 weight of bare compressor kg. 29.5
