The K to 12 curriculum was seen to have overloaded classes and
subjects, resulting in "learning losses" among students. With too many
subjects to study, the result was devastating for learners. After being
made aware of this, the new curriculum which is now decongested,
provides an intervention.
The MATATAG as bold as its name, has a stronghold for the value it
may serve to the table. The agenda focuses on four critical
components: Making curriculum relevant to produce competent and job-
ready, active, and responsible citizens; Taking steps to accelerate
delivery of basic education facilities and services; Taking good care of
learners by promoting learner well-being, inclusive education, and a
positive learning environment; and Giving support to teachers to teach
better.

I believe the MATATAG curriculum is a positive step forward for the

Philippines' basic education system. It seeks to address this problem by
trimming areas of learning and emphasizing basic skills.
Here are some specific things I like about the MATATAG curriculum:
First, This curriculum focuses on basic skills. It is important, as basic
skills are the foundation for further learning.
I agree with this approach. Students need a solid foundation in basic
skills, such as reading, writing, and math, before they can succeed in
other areas. By focusing on basic skills, the MATATAG curriculum can
help students to develop the skills they need to be successful in school
and outside of school.
Second, focusing on understanding and application. Students are not
only expected to memorize facts but also to understand and apply their
knowledge. They need to engage in active learning, rather than just
listening to lectures. For learning to be truly effective one must apply
what they have learned to make the most out of it.
Third, they give importance to Good Manners and Right Conduct, Social
Responsibility, Disaster Awareness, and Peace and Security.
In this, it may produce a responsible citizen prepared for whatever
circumstance. Also shapes the attitude of the students because I believe
that grades do not define a person but how they interact with others.
Of course, there are still several things that must be considered in
implementing the MATATAG curriculum. It is important to ensure that
teachers have the training and support they need to teach the new
curriculum. Also, the Parents, guardians, and stakeholders are
encouraged to support the new curriculum.
We can see that the government especially the Department of Education
doing everything to make a favorable outcome.
I conclude that the MATATAG curriculum would become successful in
the Philippines. This curriculum has the potential to improve the quality
of basic education in the country. Ultimately, a well-balanced
implementation is essential to ensure that while addressing congestion,
the curriculum still offers a comprehensive education. Effective
communication, support during the transition, and ongoing evaluation
will play vital roles in making the MATATAG curriculum a positive
result.

gives for a greater educational future cannot be overlooked, and only time will tell if the curriculum
overhaul is genuinely successful or not.
