Steve Jobs said, “Learn continually, there’s always one more thing to learn.

” All right,
learning is a crucial process of acquiring knowledge and developing diverse skills, which
enhances the learner’s behavior. We humans are constantly learning and getting experience
throughout our lives, aren’t we? Speaking personally, I got used to going to traditional
classrooms, listening to the teachers thoughtfully and interacting with classmates or people
around me; however, the education system has changed in multiple ways since distance
learning emerged due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nowadays, I’m studying the International
Business career at the UNMSM university in person; likewise, I’m coursing the last level of
English language at Icpna institute virtually. When comparing and contrasting the two
educational modes based on their features, we will conclude whether a traditional class in a
national institution or e-learning system in a private school provides me more benefits.

First, I take the English language course whenever there is a good internet connection from
monday to friday at 9:15 PM while my classes of the International Business career takes
place four times a week and I must wake up early because the university is located near
Callao, so the road is a long one. But, I love going to my face to face classes not only
because of the enjoyable atmosphere but also because of the diversity of students you can
meet, who arrive from different regions around Peru and even Latin American countries,
while on the contrary, it’s just me and the screen of my laptop in the online classes.

Furthermore, the mode of student-student communication is another point to contrast. Both

educational modes involve a lot of reading and creating social interaction from student to
student. For instance, when being in face to face classes at the university, we actively
participate asking questions, we give ourselves the chance to share our experiences and
opinions related to the topics we are learning, which enhances personal growth whereas
during the English online course we rarely socialize via video chat or in-person study groups,
it's such a shame students almost never talk.

We can conclude that there are more differences than similarities between the two
educational methods: distance learning at institute and traditional classes at university.
