7. In an ammonia vapour compression refrigeration system, the pressure in the evaporator is 2 bar. [6]

work done per kg of ammonia is 150 kJ. Calculate the COP and the volume of vapour entering the
compressor per minute, if the rate of ammonia circulation is 4.5 kg//min. The latent heat and
specific volume at 2 bar are 1325 kJ/kg and 0.58 m3/kg respectively.
8. The temperature limits of an ammonia refrigerating system are 25oC and -10oC. If the gas is 0.91 [6]
dry at the entry to compressor and dry at the exit to compressor. Calculate the COP of the cycle.
9. A vapour compressor refrigeration system works between the pressure limits of 60 bar and 25 bar. [6]
The working fluid is 0.791 dry at the entry to compressor and dry saturated at the exit to
compressor. Determine COP of the cycle, capacity of the refrigerator if the fluid flow at the rate of
5 kg/min.

10. 28 tonnes of ice from and at 0oC is produced per day in an ammonia refrigerator. The temperature [6]

compressor. The vapour at the exit to evaporator is 0.9 dry. Assuming actual COP to be 62% of
the theoretical , calculate the power required to drive the compressor. Following properties of
