 I am a salaried EXEMPT employee expected to work 40 hours per week
o Exempt employees that are paid an established monthly or annual salary are
expected to fulfill the duties of their position regardless of the hours worked. I do
not receive overtime or compensatory time for working more than 40 hours in a
work week.
o To try and keep things consistent with managers, I do normally work from 7am to
3:30pm Monday – Friday the majority of the time. There are times that I come in
early, stay late, take longer lunch breaks and take personal time off, all while
assuming the duties of the position I hold with the City of Elmhurst are Priority one
and are completed in timely and efficient and effective manner.
o During a normal day I am allowed and do at times take a 30-minute unpaid break to
handle personal items. As an exempt employee I may at times take a longer lunch
time, since this time is unpaid and I have the right to work or talk to anyone I please
at these times. Also, I do not always take a 30min break at one time since I do not
eat lunch many days due to Elmhurst priorities and deadlines. I take smaller breaks
as time allows between projects so I can be more efficient and effective.
o The City of Elmhurst does allow all employees to have secondary jobs if they wish
too. This secondary job is a part time job to me.

What does that mean?

 City of Elmhurst has a leak detection system “demo device” that it has been showed to
many different organizations. Barlett DPW asked about it and I offered to show it to him
since I was already schedule to meet with him during a one of my lunch periods
(knowing I had an extra-long day a ahead of me). FYI, the device is a non-working device
used as a visual to show what each section of the leak detection device looks like. This
helps others to understand how the system works when you explain it to them.
 Just to be 100% clear, OTM has never claimed any input, rights acknowledgment to the
leak detection system. Elmhurst is the owner of the system and as mentioned in any
article on the subject that has been written can verify this. Please do not infer that it
has.
 Showed them Zone Scan unit just like we do all other towns. Used my break time for
meeting and travel plus started work at 600am to cover for WRF SUPT being off, had to
prepare morning staff meeting and left at 430pm after closing down plant. Covered WRF
as SUPT was taking off as he prepared to retire October 1 st. Spent over 50 hours working
this week reviewing submittals and covering for SUPT as he takes off time before he
retires. Worked weekend prior and staying late.
 FYI, No City tools/equipment have ever been used by OTM.

you’re not out to defame a person with false facts or disinformation just for a story. I appreciate the
