2. The terminal properties of a two-port network are measured with the following results: With the output
short-circuited and an input current of 4 mA, the output current is 1mA and the input voltage is 20
mV. With the output open-circuited and a voltage of 20 V applied to the input, the current in the input
is 2A and the voltage measured at the output is 4 V. Find values of the transmission parameters of this
network.

3. For the two-port network in Figure 2.

a. Find the h-parameters of the circuit.
b. Draw the equivalent circuit of the h-parameters.
c. Find the input impedance when a 50 Ω resistor is connected across the output port using the h-
parameters equivalent circuit.

5. Design a Chebyshev high pass filter and obtain the filter transfer function such that it satisfies
the following specification:
Passband edge frequency = 10 rad/sec
Stopband edge frequency = 2 rad/sec
Maximum passband attenuation = 3 dB
Minimum stopband attenuation = 50 dB

6. Synthesize a Butterworth filter using Darlington method which passes all frequency components
less than 1 rad/sec with less than 3dB attenuation and attenuate frequency components greater
than 2 rad/sec by more than 15 dB. Assume equal termination of 1 ohm in both the source and
load sides.

B) What are the specification of the filter?
C) Find the filter transfer function using Butterworth approximation methods.

The end of the pass-band frequency is 16 KHz.
The maximum peak to peak ripple in the passband must not exceed 1.8 dB
At 48 KHz the response must be done at least 50dB from its peak values.

Part III: Mini Project

An analog accelerometer is mounted on a quadcopter which is observed to be affected by additive
noise at frequency greater than 8 kHz due to vibration. The specification of the accelerometer states
that the output is bounded to frequency less than 4 kHz. Design an analog low-pass filter to reduce
the effect of the vibration on the output. The filter shouldn’t reduce the magnitude of the
accelerometer output by more than 3dB, while attenuating the vibration noise by at least 40dB. Write
a MATLAB script that simulate and plot the magnitude response of the designed low pass filter using
Butterworth and Chebyshev approximation method.
