Adjectives are words that describe the qualities
or states of being of nouns
Possessive
Descriptive
Quantity My, your, his
Big, Green, Cold
Enough, six, few
HOW TO USE THEM
An adjective often comes BEFORE a noun:
The green car
And sometimes an adjective comes AFTER
a verb: The car is green
Adjectives can also modify pronouns: She is
beautiful
We can often use two or more adjectives
together: She is beautiful and smart
1. Descriptive
Describe nouns that refer to action, state, or
TYPES OF quality
ADJECTIVES
careless, dangerous, excited, sad, black, white…
2. Quantity
Tells us the number (how many) or amount (how
much) of a noun
three, much, plenty, many, six…
3. Demonstrative
Before a noun to specifically state the noun is being
referred to.
This, that, this, former, the other
4. Possessive
possession of a noun by someone or something
My, your, his, her, its…

ADJECTIVE FORM
Some adjectives have particular endings, for example:
-able/-ible: washable, credible
-ish/-like: childish, childlike
-ful/-less: careful, careless
-ous: dangerous, harmonious
-y: dirty, pretty
