I. Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. Identify the different Hand Movement and Position in Cheer Dance;
b. Value the importance of the proper execution of the different Hand Movement
and Position in Cheer Dance and;
c. Create a cheer dance routine using the different Hand Movement and Position in
Cheer Dance.

Hand Movement and Position in Cheer Dance


Beginning Stance
Feet together hands down by the side in blades.
First is the Beginning Stance please read.

Yes Ma’am
(Students will do the Beginning Stance)

Clap
Hands in blades ash the chin elbows in.

Second is the Clap, please read.

High V
Arms extended up forming a “V” relax the
shoulder.

Arms extended down forming “V”

(Students will do the Low V)

Next is Low V, please read class (Students will repeat the five hand movement and
position in cheer dance.

Overhead Clasp
Arms are straight above the head in a clasp and
slightly in front of the face.

Next is Overhead Clasp please read everyone.

Low Clasp
Arms extended straight down in a clasp and
slightly in front of the body.

L-Motion
One arm extended in a high “V” and the other
arm extended in a “V” (Right Diagonal show)

T-Motion
Both arms extended straight out to the side and
parallel to the ground relax the shoulder.

Both arms parallel to the ground and bent at the
elbows first into shoulders.

And the last is the Half-T, Jenny will you read.

IV. Evaluation

With your same group, create a short dance choreography using the different basic hand movements and
positions in Cheer Dance.

You will be given 5 minutes to practice and 1 minute to perform your dance routine.
Selection of their own music will be prohibited to each group.
Here are the criteria for your performance.

Criteria for Grading Students Performance:

Creativity: 30%
Completeness: 20%
Mastery: 20%
Over-all Performance: 30%
100% total
