I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards
Demonstrate understanding of key concepts of geometry of shapes and
sizes, and geometric relationships.

B. Performance Standards
The learner can create models of plane figures and formulate and solve
accurately authentic problems involving sides and angles of a polygon.

C. Learning Competency
Derives inductively the relationship of exterior and interior angles of a convex
polygon.
(M7GE-IIIf-1)

D. Specific Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
1. find the sum of all the exterior and interior angles of any convex polygon; and
2. solve for the missing angle of the given polygon.

IV. PROCEDURES
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY
A. Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer
May I request everyone to please In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the
stand for the prayer? Holy Spirit, Amen…

Please be seated.

2. Greetings
Good morning class! Good Morning Sir!
How are you this morning? We are very much fine, Sir!

3. Checking of attendance
Are there any absent today? None Sir.
Very good!
Are you excited for our new lesson for
today? Yes we are, Sir!
Wow, good to hear that.

4. Setting of Rules
Before we finally move on to our
lesson, let us first have an agreement. Is
that fine with you all? Yes, sir!

I want you to keep all things that are

not needed to our discussion. Sit properly
and do not talk with your seatmates.

What will you do if you want to

answer to my questions?
We’ll just raise our hands silently,
sir.
Very good!

And what will you do if

somebody is talking here in front? We should listen attentively, sir.
Bravo!

What about if we have group activities? We have to cooperate and participate, sir.

So, do we have an agreement now? Yes, sir!

B. Review
Before we proceed to our new lesson
for today, let us have a short recap about
our lesson last week.

Do you still remember what was our About Polygons sir.

lesson last week?

Very Good!
A closed figure formed by three or more
Okay, what is polygons? segments called sides.
Very good!
What name of polygons that has 4 Quadrilateral sir.
sides ?

Okay, how about a polygons that has 7 Heptagon sir.

Very good!

Do you have any questions about our None sir.

last topic?

Alright!

C. Motivation
Okay class, now I have here a set of
pictures or figures here. All you want to do
is to determine what part of basic
geometry terms you can see in the picture
and give me undefined terms as you can
see in the picture.

So now, what do you think is our (Students answers vary)

lesson for today?

D. Presentation
This morning we are going to discuss
about polygons in which you are
expected to: find the sum of all the
exterior and interior angles of any convex
polygon; and solve for the missing angle
of the polygon.

E. Discussion

There are two types of angles

associated with a convex polygon:

Interior Angle (Vertex Angle) – Angle

formed by two consecutive sides.
Exterior Angle – Angle formed by a side
and an extension of an adjacent side of
the regular polygon.

Example:

In the convex polygon ABCDE,

Interior Angles - ∠A, ∠B, ∠C, ∠D, ∠E

Exterior Angle - ∠MCD
Diagonals - AC , AD

Sum of Interior Angles

S=(n-2) x 180°

Sum of Exterior Angles

Always equal to 360°

Example:

Diagonal – 0; Triangle – 1

Diagonal – 1; Triangle – 2

Diagonal – 4; Triangle – 5
In the Polygon ABC, find the measures of
the missing angle:
70° + 65° +∠B = 180°
135° + ∠B = 180°
∠B = 180° - 135°
∠B = 45°

∠1= 115°
∠3=135°
∠2=110°

F. Developing Mastery

Now class, get 1 whole sheet of paper and

find the measurement of the interior angle,
∠B. Since the Polygon has 5 sides, so it a pentagon.
So the sum of interior polygons is (3x180) = 540
°

Solution:
70° +95° +120° +95° + ∠B = 540°
380° +∠B = 540°
∠B = 540° - 380°
∠B = 160°

None sir.

Do you have any questions or

clarification?

Okay, good.

G. Application
Yes sir.
Now, get 1 whole sheet of paper and
you have to answer the following.
Understood?

Okay, good.

In the Polygon ABCDE, find the

measures of the missing angle: ∠1, ∠2,
∠3, ∠4, ∠5. Use the given figure below.

∠1=110°
∠2 =20°
∠3 =85°
∠4 =60°
∠5=85°

Yes sir.

Are you done?

Okay, past your paper.

H. Generalization
900°
A while ago, we discussed about
measuring Polygons.
Now, what is the sum of interior angle in
Heptagon ? (n-2) * 180°

What is the formula in getting the sum of

interior?
None sir.
Okay, very good!

Do you have any questions?

Okay good.

I. Evaluation

Now, I want you to get a 1 whole sheet

of paper. You have to answer it individual.
m∠A + 87° = 180°
m∠A=180° -87°
m∠A = 93°

m∠B +122° = 180°

m∠B = 180° -122°
m∠B = 58°

m∠C = 35°

m∠D = 145°
J. Assignment

Study about circle and terms related to it.
