INTRODUCTION
Computer-aided design (CAD) involves creating computer models defined by geometrical
parameters. These models typically appear on a computer monitor as a three-dimensional
representation of a part or a system of parts, which can be readily altered by changing relevant
parameters. CAD systems enable designers to view objects under a wide variety of
representations and to test these objects by simulating real-world conditions.
Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) uses geometrical design data to control automated
machinery. CAM systems are associated with computer numerical control (CNC) or direct
numerical control (DNC) systems. These systems differ from older forms of numerical control
(NC) in that geometrical data are encoded mechanically. Since both CAD and CAM use
computer-based methods for encoding geometrical data, it is possible for the processes of design
and manufacture to be highly integrated. Computer-aided design and manufacturing systems are
commonly referred to as CAD/CAM.

OBJECTIVE
 Know software user interface and design intent.
 Create 2D sketch profile of part using CAD/CAM software.
 Create 3D model of part using CAD/CAM software.
 Generate toolpath movement using CAD/CAM software
 Generate program using CAD/CAM software.

APPARATUS/EQUIPMENT
1. Computer set
2. Autodesk Inventor 2022 and Inventor Cam

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1. Follow all written and verbal instructions carefully. If you do not understand a direction
or part of a procedure. Ask your instructor before proceeding with the activity.
2. Observe good housekeeping practices. Work areas should be kept clean and tidy at all
times.
PROCEDURES
 Procedures in CAD
1. Autodesk Inventor Software had been launched
2. A new file created and standart.ipt file in metric unit choosed
3. Sketch preferences has been checked and set
4. Sketch Geometry has been sketched
5. 2D profile of the part sketched. Geometrical constrain such as (parallel, vertical,
perpendicular and horizontal) on that sketch applied
6. 3D instruction command applied
7. Procedure 6 to 7 repeated for several sections to complete the part.

 Procedures in CAM
1. 3D model file in Autodesk Inventor Software opened.
2. CAM tab choosed
3. ‘Setup’ clicked in ribbon to define machine, operation type, WCS, model, fixture,
stock, size and program name.
4. Tool library created (Tools created by choosing suitable cutting tools in library or
new tools created that relate with tools in the machine base on operations.
5. Several operations from rough cutting to finishing depend on model in 2D
modelling or 3D milling ribbon Created. The right cutting parameter set up.
6. Tool path generated and stimulated to check operation.
7. NC code generate by click on “Post Process”. Milling-Fanuc post choosed.

DISCUSSION
Along doing this project of CAD CAM we had known that the process CAD CAM where divide
by two parts. One part of CAD that we had built the project based on the engineering drawing
the become then the other part was CAD that to create the tool and the process to make the
project become the product. To be conclude, the objective of the lab session has been achieved
where using the basic NC program on CADCAM. The process of operation is ease by using NC
program where it has great manufacturing flexibility, also it reduced manufacturing lead time
and improved quality control where no risk of human mistakes.

CONCLUSION
For the conclusion this lab report CAD/CAM, student will able to create 3Ddrawings using CAD
Software. They will be apply machining parameter in machining operation for adaptiving,
facing, contouring, and drilling. By using CAD/CAM student can create, preview and editing a
tool path. They also can simulate the tool path and operation. Other than that, student can
understand the function of operation manager and post-processing to generate NX 8.0 program.

At industrial side, student will be able to satisfy the employee with the skill about conducting
CAD/CAM machine. Student will be able to study the software with a good condition and my
opinion there are recommendation needs to improves because all machine or pc is well in
maintenance although student is very comfort to study.
