Excretion vs
egestion
• If for example , you eat a burger , may be
some parts of the burger might not be
digested by the body.
• So ,they will be removed as undigested
food (waste)
• But this undigested food has not been
produced by your body – it comes from
the burger that you’ve eaten .
• So, it is a waste – YES but it has not been
produced within the body – it comes from
consumed food.
• The removal of undigested food – is
known as egestion.
• Chemical reactions take place in
Excretion living organisms.
• Living things produce waste
products during some chemical
reactions.
• If the waste accumulates in the body
, it may become toxic.
• So , they need to remove the waste
products produced by the body.
• This is known as excretion.
• During respiration, your cells
Example produce carbon dioxide ( waste).
• It needs to be removed .
• This is an example of excretion.
• Because the carbon dioxide has
been produced in your body cells (
and not by mac donald :p)

egestion is the removal of undigested
