    Guidelines for Disciplinary actions for the Act of indiscipline by the students

    Act of indiscipline Disciplinary Action


     Possession / recovery of motorized vehicle by  Withdrawal of hostel facility permanently
    hosteller
     Smoking of cigarette inside the room or hostel  Minimum Rs. 1000/- or Rs. 200/- per Butt / per
    premises. cigarette whichever is maximum, for the first
     Possession / recovery of cigarette / cigarette butts incidence.
    from the room of the student  If recovered again withdrawal of hostel facility
    permanently.
     Found drinking inside the room, possession of  A fine of Rs. 50000/- and withdrawal of hostel
    liquor / beer / beer cans etc. facility permanently. Call parents for a meeting.
     If found in drunken state in hostel or institute  For the first incidence fine of Rs. 10000/-
    premises/campus (did not drink inside the hostel)  For second incident withdrawal of hostel facility
    permanently. Call parents for a meeting.
     Dirty rooms / not keeping rooms clean  A fine of Rs. 500/- per student.
     Possession or consumption of Narcotics substance  Withdrawal of hostel facility permanently with
    or substance abuse intimation to police authorities. Call parents for a
    meeting
     Misbehavior/ scuffle / fighting / abusing etc. with  Withdrawal of hostel facility permanently with
    other hostel inmates or institute staff intimation to police (if required).
     Damaging to Institute property  A fine of Rs. 2,000/- or Ten times estimated cost of
    the damaged property whichever is maximum to each
    person involved.
     Non-possession of Institute ID Card / Mess Card  A fine of Rs. 100/- per incident
     Loss of Identity/Hostel card  Rs. 200/-
     Illegal stay in hostel of non-registered student  For the first incidence Rs. 2,500/- to be paid by the
    inmate to whom room is allotted
     For the second incidence withdrawal of Hostel facility
    permanently. If unauthorized person is VNIT student
    then same action will be taken.
     Unauthorized entry in restricted area such as roof /  A fine of Rs. 5000/- for first incidence.
    terrace / overhead tank etc.  For the second incidence withdrawal of hostel facility
    permanently.
     Possession of high voltage electrical appliances.  A fine of Rs. 2,500/- for first incidence.
     Withdrawal of hostel facility permanently for second
    incidence.
     Theft any item of the students/staff or institute  A fine of Rs. 5000/- per student + Amount equal to
    property ten times cost of the item theft and call parents for a
    meeting .
     Making of duplicate Institute/hostel Identity  A fine of Rs. 5000/-
    card/Forgery  Withdrawal of Hostel facility / withdrawal of T & P
    facility and Library facility
     Any celebrations in filthy manner  A fine of Rs. 5000/- and call parents for a meeting,
    (Birthday/Placement/indicating sadist mentality) Withdrawal of T & P facility of all the students
    involved.

     The information about any of the above activities/actions will be given to the parents, faculty advisor and
    concern head of department.
     In case of hostel rustication, the remaining hostel fees and deposits will be forfeited.
     In case of any other indiscipline activity, the decision / recommendation of the Warden / Associate Dean (HA)
    / Warden Council shall be final.
     Disciplinary action committee (DAC) /Wardens’ committee is authorized to modify the quantum of action
    based on severity.
     Any action taken as above will be informed to the Academic Section and Training & Placement Section.
