NARRATIVE REPORT

In accordance with DEPED Memorandum No. 001, s. 2024, which is the

implementation of catch-up Fridays. The Parang National High School conducted its
weekly catch-up Friday on February 23, 2024. The teachers, with the assistance of the
practice teachers, spearheaded the series of teaching-learning activities in different
groups and year level across the

In the morning, there were 37 students present. The teacher tackled first lessons
in the English language, concerning the correct grammar- tenses, spelling and
numbers, and word order in sentences, vocabulary, and pronunciation of words.
Different standards in the English language were also emphasized i.e. words that are of
the same spelling but different in pronunciation. As the interactive discussion
progressed, it was observed that there were few students who either mispronounce
highfalutin or uncommon words or just read the text in monotonous manner. Afterward,
the teachers in charge encouraged the students to ask questions or confusion in
grammar.

In the afternoon, there was a decrease of two in the number of students. The
teacher then lets them read and answer questions related to the story. The first part is a
True or False type of test which measures whether the students comprehend what they
are reading or not. As observed, the students can comprehend the story very well as
they were able to answer the objective questions presented. The second part of the test
lets them answer the questions in a complete sentence. However, some students have
difficulty in constructing well-written sentences. Specifically, they are confused about the
subject-verb agreement, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.

Furthermore, it can be suggested that for the upcoming catch-up Friday’s, the
discussions as well as assessments should focus on harnessing the productive skills of
students such that of writing. It can also be noted that during the day-long learning
session, a series of game-based activities shall be considered to make the class
interactive and engaging, thus fully maximizing students’ learning.
