Pumasok na muli sa PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup semifinals ang Ginebra.


Ito ay nang patumbahin ang NorthPort, 106-93, sa kanilang laban sa PhilSports Arena sa Pasig
City nitong Biyernes ng gabi.
Kaagad na umalagwa ang Gin Kings sa second quarter hanggang sa tuluyan nang maiuwi ang
panalo.
Naka-double-double si Gin Kings import Tony Bishop sa nakubrang 31 points at 15
rebounds, dagdag pa ang apat na assists at isang steal.
Sa panig ng NorthPort, nanguna naman sina Joshua Munzon at JM Calma dahil sa
nakolektang tig-19 points.
Makahaharap na ng Ginebra ang San Miguel sa best-of-five series.

Nakahabol pa rin sa quarterfinals ang TNT matapos patumbahin ang Phoenix Super LPG, 116-
96, sa huling laro sa elimination round sa PhilSports Arena sa Pasig nitong Linggo.

Nagpakitang-gilas sa Tropang Giga si Rondae Hollis-Jefferson matapos kumana ng 35 points,


siyam na rebounds, 11 assists, tatlong steals, at isang block.

Malaki rin ang naging ambag nina Calvin Oftana at Kim Aurin na kapwa nakakuha ng 18 points,
at nagdagdag naman si Brian Heruela ng 14 points.
Kahit kababalik lamang mula sa iniindang myocarditis o pamamaga ng heart muscle, kumubra
pa rin si Roger Pogoy 11 points, tatlong rebounds, tatlong assists at dalawang steals.

La Salle, Ateneo claim first win vs separate foes in UAAP men’s volleyball opening day
De La Salle escaped Adamson in straight sets while Ateneo turned back University in the East to
claim their respective first victories in the opening day of the UAAP Season 86 men’s volleyball
tournament on Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Green Spikers kicked off its campaign with a closely-fought 25-22, 25-23, 26-24 win over
the Falcons, while the Blue Eagles began their redemption campaign with a 25-16, 22-25, 25-15,
25-14 triumph over the Warriors.

La Salle, who finished in the Final Four last season, banked on the all-around efforts of Noel
Kampton and JM Ronquillo after the duo topscored with 19 and 18 points, respectively.

Despite winning the match in straight sets, the Green Spikers had to dig deep after trailing with
Adamson for most of the game including in the third frame where it ended with Kampton’s
crosscourt attack.

Meanwhile, Ateneo recovered from a second-set hiccup before breezing past the Red Warriors.

Ken Batas led the way for Ateneo with 22 points on 19 attacks, two blocks, and one ace while
Matthew Salarzon delivered 15 points on 12 attacks, two blocks, and one ace to go along with 11
excellent receptions.

Klay Thompson erupts for 35 points off the bench, leads Warriors to victory over Jazz

For the first time since his rookie season in 2012, Thompson came off the bench in their 140-137
win over Salt Lake City, and scored a season-high 35 points on 13-of-22 shooting with zero
turnovers and personal fouls.
Thompson also surpassed the 15,000-point mark in his career. He became the 153rd player in
NBA history to do so and the sixth player in Warriors franchise history to reach the milestone,
joining Stephen Curry, Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry, Paul Arizin, and Chris Mullin.
Coach Steve Kerr had rookie guard Brandin Podziemski replace Thompson in the starting lineup
and he finished with 13 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. Draymond Green chipped in a
season-high 23 points for the Warriors. Andrew Wiggins added 19 points and seven rebounds
while Stephen Curry had 16 points and 10 assists.
Thompson got the offense going for the Warriors as he scored 17 points in the Warriors’ 84-point
first half. He then continued to erupt in the third with 18 points in the third frame.
After trailing by 18 points to start the fourth quarter, Utah made it a one-possession game in the
final two minutes.
Markkanen and Collin Sexton each made a pair of baskets to fuel a 13-2 run that cut Golden
State’s lead to 138-137 in the final minute. Lauri Markkanen missed a potential go-ahead corner
three, and Collins grabbed the offensive rebounds but threw the ball away with 3.1 seconds left.
Curry made two free throws with 2.4 seconds remaining before Sexton missed a good look on
the final play.
Sexton led the Jazz with 35 points and nine assists. Rookie Keyonte George added a career-high
33 points while making a career-high nine 3-pointers. Markkanen finished with 20 points while
John Collins tallied 18. They had 13 rebounds apiece.
