The problem that caused the confusion in the conversation was one of the questions in the test which

was question 5. The student got


confused that he thought and thought and thought what the past tense of the word “think” could be and then ending up answering
“thinked”, though he already mentioned the answer.

Based on the verbal and non-verbal reaction on the statement, in my opinion, the conversation did have an effective communication.
The teacher received and understood the message. The teacher’s reaction shows that how naïve the student is, where the student used
the word “thought” many times in their conversation yet he put the word “thinked” in his exam.

For me, the biggest cause of miscommunication is misunderstanding. It might be that the sender doesn’t even understand what he/she
is sending, or the receiver might understand it in a different way due to the attitude the sender gave, or there’s a noise bothering. An
effective communication can’t happen if there’s a misinterpretation between the sender and receiver.
