The drum shaft E-3000-UDB assembly was received by National Oilwell Varco (NOV) Singapore
Service Center from ARKTIK, DS DEEP VENTURE. They were fully dismantled, water blasted and
prepared for inspection.

Details of the inspections are as follows:
Drum Shaft

PLATE
 Third party MPI was carried out on the drum shaft no rejectable discontinuity was detected on the
area examined. (Refer report no. MT 042/12/2012).
 Visual and dimension check on the shaft and found acceptable.
 Visual inspection on lebus grooving 1½” was no damage marks and found acceptable.
 Visual inspection on wear plates found slightly worn on driller side and off driller side and found
acceptable between NOV wear limit.
Low Sporcket High Sporcket
 Third party MPI was carried out on the low sprocket and high sprocket no rejectable discontinuity
was detected on the area examined. (Refer report no. MT 042/12/2012).
 Visual and Dimension check on low sprocket bearing bore and found acceptable.
 Visual and Dimension check found high sprocket bearing bore oversize recommended to replace
(P/N: 06-046-086).
 Dress all dent edges and bearing bore. Re-tap all threaded holes.

046-051 and P/N 06-046-065 found serviceable.
 Visual inspection on spacers P/N 2110081 were no damage mark and found serviceable.
 Dimension check on Hub bore P/N Z9739D and found serviceable.
 Dress all dent edges and shaft bore. Re-tap all threaded holes.
 Visual inspection found hub worn on the spline P/N Z9739D recommended to replace.(refer to part
list)

Ring Clutch Driving P/N 68-070-795
 Third party MPI was carried out on the drive clutch ring no rejectable discontinuity was detected on
the area examined. (Refer report no. MT 042/12/2012).
 Visual inspection on the ring clutch drive P/N 68-070- 795 found the splines worn out on off driller
side recommended to replace. ( refer to part list )
 Dress all dent edges.

 Third party MPI was carried out on the air clutch front plates no rejectable discontinuity was
detected on the area examined. (Refer report no. MT 042/12/2012).
 Visual inspection on the front plates P/N A6838B and found acceptable.
 Diaphragm P/N A6832 need to replace. ( refer to part list )
 Dress all dent edges. Re-tap all threaded holes.

 Visual inspection found Drive plate lining (P/N A6835), drive plate rivet (P/N M2057AN) and drive
plate (P/N 8670) need to replace. (refer to part list)
 Center plate P/N A6839 and pressure plate P/N A6840 and found serviceable.

 Clean and removed bumps all components before assemble.

 All the components were assembly follow OEM specification.
 All bearings have been packed with the new grease.
 The high and low sprockets have been turned by hang turning freely.
 The both side main bearing boxes turning freely.
 All bolts and nuts were torque follow as OEM specification.
 All parts were replaced new as quoted.
 Bolts have been secured with lock wire and Loctite follow as NOV requirement.
 All the components were MPI and visual inspection prior before reassemble.
 All tubing’s were fitted follow as NOV parts list.
 The air operated clutch PO342 was assemble on high side and low side follow as manual
installation.
 Air leakage test on high clutch side.
