II. General Overview
Session Title: Harmony Dreams: An Subject and English
Interactive Journey with Time: AM Session

Session Objectives: The learners demonstrate their expanding vocabulary
knowledge as used in formal and informal situations:
growing knowledge of grammatical structures; literal, literal,
inferential, and critical comprehension of literary and
informational texts; and developing skills in composing and
creating text in order to produce culture-appropriate texts
based on ones’ purpose, context and target audience.
Students will not only engage with the story on a deeper
level but also develop essential reading comprehension skills
and explore the power of music and dreams in their own
lives.

Key Concepts The learners apply literal, inferential, and critical


comprehension of literary and informational texts and
produce culture-appropriate texts: narrative and expository
texts (explanation, news report) based on their purpose,
context (Chinese New Year), and target audience using
simple, compound, and complex sentences, and age-
appropriate and gender-sensitive language.

"perseverance," and "achievement."
Provide simple definitions or
examples for each word and ask
students to repeat after you,
ensuring understanding.

3. Prediction Exercise: Show the


cover of the story or describe it
briefly. Then, ask students to
predict what they think the story
will be about based on the title and
cover. Encourage them to share
their ideas with a partner or in small
groups.

During Reading 50 mins 1. Read Aloud: Read the story "The


Dreaming Songbird" aloud to the
class, pausing occasionally to ask
questions and check for
understanding.
2. Stop and Discuss: Pause at key
points in the story to ask
comprehension questions. For
example:
 What is the main character's
name?
 What is his/her dream?
 What challenges does the
main character face?
 How does the main character
overcome these challenges?
3. Character Analysis: Encourage
students to analyze the main
character's thoughts, feelings, and
actions throughout the story. Ask
questions such as:

feel when he/she faces
setbacks?
 What motivates the main
character to pursue his/her
dream?
 How does the main character
change or grow throughout the
story?
