THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BODY SIZE AND BODY WEIGHT

OF COASTAL CATTLE IN CV. SEHATTI, PADANG PARIAMAN

ABSTRACT

This study aims to determine how the relationship between body measurements (chest
circumference, body length and shoulder height) with body weight of Pesisir cattle in Padang
Pariaman Regency.This study used Pesisisr cattle as many as 17 cattle for 2-3 years old and 15
cattle for 3-4 years old. This research used observation method with purposive sampling
technique. Parameters measured were chest circumference, body length, height and body
weight. Data analysis was carried out using various simple and multiple regression models,
namely linear, expositional and gometric (conppount) regression models. The results of data
analysis showed that the simple regression models used showed that body size has the closest
relationship with body weight, with a linear regression model of chest circumference with body
weight in Coastal Males aged 3-4 years, the value of the coefficient of determination (R) is
0.646, while at the age of 2-3 years the value of the correlation coefficient is 0.646. Linear
regression model of body length with body weight in coastal bulls aged 3-4 years the
correlation coefficient (R) is 0.742, while at the age of 2-3 years the correlation coefficient (R)
is 0.667. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded from the simple regression
model used that body size has the closest relationship with body weight, namely body length
in coastal cattle aged 3-4 years with a correlation coefficient (R) value of 0.742 and in coastal
cattle aged 2-3 years the correlation coefficient (R) value is 0.667.
