Our Bert Edwards Day of Sucwentwecw
this year is on Friday, April 5th. The theme
for this year's district-wide day is: Our
shared learning is embedded in memory,
history and story through courage,
wisdom and local indigenous
perspectives. We are planning several
school wide events, and teachers will be
RECOGNITION
Congratulations to our boys and girls
basketball teams on their successes and
dedication this season. Thank you to Mr.
Hummel, Mr. Wood, Ms. Neufeld and Mr.
Nijjer for coaching our teams.
A special recognition for the students who
presented at our annual Variety/Talent
Show. This was a great culmination of the
diverse talents that our BEST students
have. Thank you to Mrs. Phillips and Ms.
Storvold for organizing this event.
SAFE ARRIVAL
With the safety of our children as a school
priority, we respectfully remind everyone
of our District Safe Arrival system for
reporting student lates or absences. You
can access this system by phone
(1-844-350-2647), internet
(go.schoolmessenger.ca), or smartphone
free app - iOS and Android versions. We
encourage all parents to use this system
in place of messages to teachers or calls
to the office, and to report all student
absences every day prior to 8:30 am.
FLOWER FUNDRAISER
Watch for flyer and order form
coming out soon. Delivery Date
is early May to be confirmed.
CARDBOARD CHALLENGE
We are excited for all K-6 classes to be
participating in a school wide cardboard
design challenge. Each class will be
completing cardboard projects. Families
are requested to save cardboard at home
and teachers will specify when to bring the
cardboard to school. Parents and family
members are invited to view our designs
on March 14th at 2:10-2:40pm.
KINDERGARTEN SPARK
SESSIONS
Sessions for our incoming Kindergarten
students (September 2024) are as follows:
May 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd 3:30-4:30pm.
LOST and FOUND
Please remind your student to check the
MANY lost and found items hanging up
outside the gym the week of March 11th to
15th. If not claimed, these items will be
donated to a charity on Friday, March 15th
prior to the two-week Spring Break
holiday.
PINK SHIRT DAY 2024
On Wednesday February 28th, we
celebrated Pink Shirt Day here at our
school, focusing on our efforts to treat all
school members with kindness, respect,
and courtesy. It was great to see a sea of
pink at our school on Pink Shirt Day with
hundreds of students and staff wearing a
pink shirt.
As you are aware, next year Grade 7
students will remain at BEST. If you are
planning on attending a new school in the
fall please advise our school office. This
will help with us planning for upcoming
classes and configuration needs.
PAC NEWS
Thank you to everyone who ordered the
B.E.S.T PAC Hot Lunch: Panago and
Senor Froggy. We appreciate your
continued support.
B.E.S.T PAC Hot Lunch: Chopped Leaf
(April) order forms have gone home and
are due back by Tuesday March 12th.
Parents please remember to fill out or
check that your child has filled out the
lunch order forms fully with the student’s
first and last name as well as the
teacher’s name. If orders forms are not
filled out in full, we cannot guarantee that
the order will be processed. Please make
cheques payable to Bert Edwards PAC
and do NOT combine with school lunch
money or any other money for the school.
The B.E.S.T PAC will be hosting another
Movie Night on Friday April 19th! $5 a
family. Location: B.E.S.T Gym. Doors
Open at 6pm and the Movie Starts at 6:30
pm. All you need to do is bring your chairs
or a cozy blanket and the B.E.S.T PAC
has your snacks covered as we will be
running a full snack concession! Can’t
wait to see you there!
