1. Three gallons or five gallons.

A 3-gallon tank serves a maximum of three urinals & a five-

gallon tank serves a maximum of 5 urinals (Pg. 2). Therefore, each urinal requires one gallon
(Pg. 6). 8 urinals would require, both a 5- & 3-gallon tank minimum.

2. “The siphon is the main working part; it discharges the water from the tank to the urinals to
provide a flush.” (Pg. 3)

3. “…the time is takes the water supply to fill the tank.” (Pg. 8). More water = more flushing.

4. “…used to divert a small portion of cold water from a frequently used fixture to a trap…
guard traps that are subject to infrequent use…” (Pg. 9) Maintains a trap seal.

5. “…warehouses, electrical vaults…” (Pg. 9) The City of Edmonton requires a trap primer on
each commercial floor drain.

6. “…tempered water supplied to a group of faucets or showers at a specified temperature…”

(Pg. 18)

7. “…point-of-use…use with a single fixture.” (Pg. 19) “Point-of-source…as they must supply all
of the fixtures.” (Pg. 23) Point-of-use is for a specific fixture; whereas, point-of-source is
installed at the HWT & serves multiple fixtures. See Fig. 23 & 24 for an illustration.

8. Maximum temperature of 120F/49C. (Pg. 25)
