Operation Management

The adoption of information technology has influenced the decision-making processes used in
businesses. The primary role of most information systems is to transport information retrieved
from databases. A business's operations and administration are supported by databases. With a
database, acquired data is kept and organised, allowing users to integrate, access, and utilise
databases, as well as perform precise analyses as necessary. When an organisation gets direct
database access, customer service and research can be enhanced. It is also extremely important
when it comes to commercial decision making. A decision support system (DSS) is a computer
application designed to enhance the decision-making capabilities of a business. It analyses huge
amounts of information and gives an organisation with the best feasible solutions available. It
does this by aggregating information from a variety of domains and sources, giving users access
to more in-depth knowledge than can be found in standard reports and summaries. Information
technology's contribution to a decision-making support system, then, consists of collecting and
arranging relevant facts and information, much to the way a group of people might combine
their intelligence or share their expertise in the workplace to make better decisions.
