1 Introduction
These instructions describe the steps to install Vision 2012 on an iU22 or iE33
system. Vision 2012 software can be installed on D and above carts only. This
upgrade consists of installing Vision 2012 software from a factory programmed
hard disk drive (HDD), or from separate CDs/DVDs. When upgrading F.3 carts
with a factory programmed HDD0, HDD1 and HDD2 must also be re-installed or
the software installation will fail (see KNOVA 25963).
Vision 2011 and higher software has a new Service interface. The Config/Test
button has been renamed to Service. While all functions of Tech Admin are
available in the new interface, you can still access Tech Admin by closing the
Service interface and selecting Tech Admin from the Setups window (see also
Appendix B: Accessing Tech Admin).
1. BEFORE YOU ARRIVE at the customer site, ask your customer to save, to
a customer-provided DVD, any patient images or exam studies that they will
want to reload for review following the upgrade. Once files are exported and
imported, images are no longer available for editing, and can only be
reviewed. Saving patient data is time consuming and may add hours to the
upgrade process.
2. Determine the system hardware configuration (see Appendix A: Identifying
System Hardware Type, p. 28). Vision 2012 can only be installed on D and
above cart configurations.

19. At the “Pre-install Message 1” you are prompted to “Retain the Host
Name”, type {Y}.
20. At the “Install Message 1” prompting you to continue the software
installation, type {Y}. The software will begin to load and take approximately
5 minutes to complete.
21. At the "Install Message 2" asking you to press any key to continue, press
<Enter>. The final OS/Software install step will begin with this reboot. BE
READY to remove the “OS plus Application” DVD IMMEDIATELY when
the screen goes black. You may or may not see the Analog no
signal/Entering sleep mode message. You can insert the “Drivers” disk at
this time. A second message will be displayed a few minutes later
prompting you again to insert the “Drivers” disk. Type {Y} to continue the
Drivers installation.

the Printers disk (if needed), and insert the requested transducer data file
disks. Type {Y} and press <Enter>.

NOTE: If you are upgrading an iE33 system, install the data file disks at this
time; otherwise, if you install them at a later date, you will need to
perform the full OS plus Application software installation. The system
messages will indicate that you can install the data files now or later;
however, the message applies to iU22 system transducer data files
only.

If you are upgrading an iU22 system, when installing the X6-1

transducer data files, the system messages may indicate that the X5-1
is being installed, depending on the Vision 2011 software version.
Disregard the transducer name in these messages, the iU22 requires
the X6-1 disk.

24. After the last disk has completed the copy and install process, remove the
disk, when prompted, from the drive. The installation process will continue
for approximately 30 minutes, eventually rebooting to the normal imaging
mode with the LOF error message displayed.
25. Reboot the system using the Standby switch.
26. If you are upgrading a G.X/R.X Cart (EMB System): It is not necessary to

Appendix A: Identifying System Hardware Type

The major system hardware configurations include:

Non-SAMI systems (A.0 cart configuration).
SAMI systems (B.0 cart configuration).
Revision 2.1 20" (widescreen) monitor system (without UMB) (C.0 cart
configuration; some systems have no service label).
UMB (Unified Motherboard) systems with a single computer (D.0 to F.X
cart configurations; some systems have no service label).
EMB (Excelsior Motherboard) systems (G.0 and above cart
configurations).

FSEs should have no problem identifying currently released A.0 and B.0
systems. B.0 systems have a hardware label inside the back door that says
"Hardware Rev B.0". This has the SAMI hardware.

The easiest way to identify non-UMB from UMB/EMB systems is to look at the
AVIO where the cables are attached. These are quite different (see Figures A.1
and A.2).

Appendix B: Accessing Tech Admin

This system's service tools/diagnostics are contained within the Tech Admin
feature. Access to Tech Admin is a two-step process for systems below 4.0.X.X.
First you must activate a 3-day license option, and then you must supply a
password. This must be done manually (see Method 1) since Uplink is no longer
supported. For systems at 4.0.X.X or higher, you can use your IST Smart Card
to access Tech Admin (see Method 2). For systems at Vision 2011 (6.0.X.X) or
higher, there is a new Service Interface (see Method 3) with the Config/Test
button renamed to Service. While all functions of Tech Admin are available in
the new interface, you can still access Tech Admin by closing the Service
Interface and selecting Tech Admin from the Setups window.
Method 1 (Manual Method)
1. Do the following to determine if the Tech Admin feature is active:
Press the <Setups> key to enter Setups.
Select the "Config/Test" button on the display.
Look to see if there is a Tech Admin Tab on the top of the display. If
one is not visible, you must enable a Tech Admin Temporary License
Option.

Appendix C: Configure Query Retrieve

BEFORE USING QUERY RETRIEVE:
Confirm that the PACs Administrator has listed the iU22/iE33 system
as an approved destination where study/images can be sent.
Confirm that the PACs Administrator has the AETitle (case sensitive),
Port, and IP Address.
Turn on the Query Retrieve Licensed Option.
Confirm that Archive Devices have been set up to support Query
Retrieve (see How to Set Up Archive Devices).

NOTE: The Query Retrieve “server” consists of three DICOM devices that are
added as Archive Devices: Export Device (archive device that has
been in iU/iE since initial release), Query Device, and Copy or Move
Device. A single Archive may support all three services, and would
only need to be entered once in Setups (see How to Set Up a Single
Archive Device).

Confirm that the PACS or device (server) that you wish to copy images
from has the iU22/iE33 AETitle (case sensitive), Port, and IP Address
entered into its DICOM devices.

IMPORTANT! Be sure to give the PACS Administrator the Ultrasound system’s

AETitle (case sensitive), Port, and IP. When the Ultrasound
system requests an exam, it sends its AETitle to PACS. PACS
looks up the Port and IP associated with its AETitle. When the
Port and IP are located, the PACS opens a new store association
to send the images. The Ultrasound system can only accept the
images if it knows the AETitle of the PACS device sending them.

Appendix D: Configure Connectivity for Integrated

PercuNav
The integration of PercuNav on the iU22 requires specific configuration for the
E-Box to communicate with the ultrasound and with other devices external to the
systems. This configuration creates three different DICOM applications;
therefore, three different Application Entry (AE) title configurations are possible.
The configuration for the iU22 AE title and Port number remains the same, while
the PercuNav E-Box has the capability to configure both the SCU and SCP AE
Titles. It may be necessary to share the Administrator password with hospital IT
or PACS administrators so they can change the PercuNav IP address and AE
title.

Verify the Licensed Options

1. Press the <Setup> key.
2. Select “Service”.
3. On the “Options” tab select “Clinical Options”,
4. Verify that the “Digital Navigation Link” and “Fusion” (or “Fusion and
