SUBJECT : SEARCH FOR HERITAGE TREES IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

DATE : June 10, 2021

1. In support to the accounting and inventory of heritage trees in all public schools
nationwide and intensifying the preservation of the country’s biodiversity, Search for
Heritage Trees in Public Schools will be conducted on June 16, 2021 as part of the
International Day for Biological Diversity with this year’s theme, “We’re part of the
solution #ForNature.”

2. All eligible school heads as well as teaching and non-teaching personnel may
participate in the said activity. The top 10 winners will receive a pair of shoes, laptop
bag and flash drive.

3. The following are the requirements for submission of entries:

a. Selfie with the heritage tree (heritage tree refers to any healthy native or endemic,
exotic, rare, threatened and endangered tree with a minimum girth of five (5)
meters;
b. Picture of the tree itself;
c. Certificate for the age of the tree from the local Department of Environment and
Natural Resources (DENR); and
d. Brief history of the tree (maximum of one page)

4. Submission of entries will be on or before June 10, 2021 via blss.ngp@gmail.com.
