Test performed: Qualitative Real time PCR (Using CFX96 from Biorad).
The assay detects the presence of 3 different gene sequences of SARS-COV2: E gene, N gene and ORF1Lab
region.
* A negative RT-PCR doesn’t exclude the possibility of COVID-19 especially if taken relatively early
in the disease course or in case of mutations within the viral genome covered by the kit’s primers
and/or probes. It is recommended to follow-up with a medical health-care provider, to continue to
adhere to safety and isolation precautions, and eventually repeat testing in case of high disease
suspicion.
* A positive result must be confirmed at RHUH (the National Reference Laboratory for COVID-19
testing).
* The Lower Detection limit of the assay is 10 copies/test for each gene.
