The present tense tells about an action that is happening now. The present
progressive form tells about an action that is continuing. It uses a helping
verb—am, is, or are—and the –ing form of the verb.
The baby crawls across the floor. (present tense)
The baby is crawling across the floor. (present progressive form)

Write P if the underlined verb is in the present-tense. Write PP if


the verb is in the present progressive form.

Use the past progressive form when action happens over a long period of
time. A past progressive verb is formed by using a form of the helping verb
be with the main verb and adding -ing to the main verb.
