EA 1007 - Electronic Circuit Simulations

Q1 to Q3 include the questions about circuit simulation part. You should draw the circuits, do
required simulations and answer the questions. Simulation files will be collected at the end of
examination.

Question 01
PART I

Pre-amplifier circuit is given below.

a) Draw following circuit in OrCAD Capture, Put the values of components as shown in image.
Using suitable simulation, find following values when the input signal is not given to the
circuit. (Screenshot of the simulation should be attached to your files)
Note: Some components names are given in bold letters

b) Find the voltage values of the A, B, C, D, Vout, Vin points when input signal is not given to
the circuit.

A D
B Vout
C Vin

c) Find the current through the Transistor and R2 when input signal is not given to the circuit.

PART II
a) Draw following circuit in OrCAD Capture, Put the values of components as shown in image.

b) Use a suitable simulation type to draw the forward V-I characteristic curve of the given
diode. (Screenshot of the plots should be attached to your files)
i. Put an alias name to the node, shown as in the image
ii. Vary supply voltage form 0 V to 6 V in 0.01V steps.
iii. Take the V-I characteristic curve with correct axis.

Question 02
PART I: A band pass passive filter circuit is given below in schematic.

a) Draw above circuit in OrCAD Capture and find the frequency response curve of the circuit
from 10 kHz to 50 kHz (Screenshot of the graphs should be attached to your files)

b) Find the -3db cutoff frequencies of the circuit. (Hint: you can directly read these values)

PART II

High pass Passive filter circuit is given below.

Using suitable simulation, find the value of the resistor, the -3db cutoff frequency is to 4 kHz.

a) Draw the schematic using OrCAD capture

b) Put a suitable component to sweep the value of resistor and change its properties as
required.

c) Do a suitable simulation with following parameters

i. Frequency: 1 Hz to 100 kHz for 1000 values
ii. Resistor value 1 kΩ to 10kΩ by 100Ω steps

d) Draw a suitable graph to show the relation in between -3db cutoff frequency and R1 resistor
value (You need to attach clear screen shots of the graph and value table)

e) Using above part(d) graph, find the resistor value of the R1 for -3db cut-off frequency is to 4
kHz. The resistor value:

Question 03
PART I

You are supposed to show the output of a 2 input OR gate.

a) Add a 2 input OR gate from DIG_PRIM library

b) Add 2 STIM1 s from Sources library
c) Set time commands in DSTM properties to show all possible combinations of outputs and
inputs
d) Create a suitable simulation profile to simulate all possible input output status
e) Run the simulation and take all possible inputs and outputs (You need to attach clear
screenshots)
