MAINTENANCE

EVERY DAY

1. Oil fired heater:

a. Outside.

Thermal fluid:

a. Level expansion tank.

b. The temperature in the expansion tank must not exceed 70 °C continuously.

Burner: (see also burner manual)

. Outside of the burner installation.

. Fuel oil pressure.
. Leakage of fuel oil piping and noise of burner.
. Clean strainer.
. Level in fuel oil tank.
Flue gasses which are leaving stack have to be colourless. If not, burner has to
be adjusted again.

Control and safety equipment:

a. Temperature adjustment of:

- oil fired heaters
- dumpcooler
b. Pressure indicators circulating pumps
. Flow oilfired heaters and economisers

Pumps:

a. Check circulating pumps on leakage.

b. Check noise.

INFORMATION
Piping:

Check all:

. flanges and gaskets

b. compensators
. valves
. fixed points

of the installation on leakage.

In case thermal fluid is absorbed by the insulation, the insulation has to be

removed immediately. After repairing the leakage position insulation can be
replaced.

Strainers:

Check strainers in thermal fluid system (only first month after installation; after
time every three months.

Switch box

a. Lamptest

Fuel oil system:

a. Check contents of fuel oil tank.

b. Check leakage of fuel oil transfer pumps.
c. Check noise.

INFORMATION
EVERY*MONTH

. Burner: (See also instructions for burner)

Clean ignition pins.

Clean flame scanner
Remove flame scanner out of burner during operation.
Burner must be switched off within 4 seconds and on switch panel burner failure
must be illuminated.

. Safety equipment:

a. Flow switches

Flow switches oil fired heaters and economisers.

Check flow switches by closing valve behind every oilfired heater and every
economiser.

Note: Do not forget to fully open valve after the test.

Maximal thermostats

Check maximal thermal fluid thermostat. For that purpose you decrease the set
point of the maximum thermal fluid thermostat during operation. Installation has
to stop and alarm lamp “maximum thermal fluid” is lightened. Turn adjusting
knob of thermostat to the original set point value.

Flue gas thermostats:

Check maximum flue gas thermostat. For that purpose you decrease the set point
of the maximum flue gas thermostat during operation. Installation has to stop and
alarm lamp “maximum flue gas” is lightened. Turn adjusting knob of thermostat
back in the original position. Do not forget to press reset button on the thermostat.

INFORMATION
).2.3. Check leakage device:

For checking open valve just above leakage device and fill up with a small quantity of
thermal fluid. Leakage alarm will be generated and burner and circulating pump will be
switched off. After test drain leakage device by opening valve behind leakage device.

. Pumps:

Thermal fluid circulating pumps:

Lubrication circulating pumps (see instructions pump deliverer).

Coupling.

Automatic standby function

Check automatically stand-by function of circulating pumps by closing slowly the

valve on the pressure side of the running pump. Second pump must be started
automatically.

Do not forget to open valve after test.

Filling pump

Start filling pump and ensure yourself of a good function.

Fuel oil transfer pumps:

Start second fuel oil transfer pump and ensure yourself of a good function.

Automatic standby

Check automatically stand-by function of circulating pumps by closing slowly the

valve on the pressure side of the running pump. Second pump must be started
automatically.
Do not forget to open valve after tests.

Burner:

Check or let check the flue gasses.

Co, - approx. 9-12 %

CO - nihil

Sootnumber in accordance with Bacharach max. 1-2.

Check if burner is adjusted in the right way.

Do not increase the capacity of your installation. (for capacity see page 4).
Overfiring of your heat exchanger can cause cracking of the thermal fluid
and damage to the coils.

Clean ignition electrodes.

Clean diffuser and flame head.

Clean flame scanner.

Check refractory lining.

Expansion tank:

a. Open drain and be sure that there is no condensated water any more in the
expansion tank.

Temperature of expansion tank has to be below 70 °C.

Thermal fluid

Take a sample of your thermal fluid and have its condition checked by e.g.
the supplier of the fluid.

This sample has to be taken in part of the installation which is mostly in

circulation, e.g. the drain valve at the circulating pump.

Burner installation

Clean impeller of blower and combustion air fan.

Replace ignition nozzle.
Replace ignition electrodes.
Replace flame scanner.
Check servomotor air dumper.
Clean air inlet.

We advice you to have the installation checked by one of our service engineers
every year.
