in various sports activities, it is observed that the participants get anxious. Anxiety is
characterized by cognitive, somatic, emotional, and behavioural components. Analysis
indicated archery performance is dependent more on anxiety state than on anxiety trait and
self-control. Highly skilled archers were less anxious and performed better across all
competitions than moderately skilled archers but did not differ in self-control and anxiety
traits. The assumption that increased anxiety negatively affects performance. The sport,
therefore, demands specialized training routine is that are tailored to meet individual needs.
Emotional intelligence is a state of emotion in which the individual respond with discomfort
to some event that has occurred or is doing to occur. The person’s worry about events, their
occurrences and consequence, in general, are the sources of anxiety. However, anxiety can be
either somatic or cognitive in nature. The symptoms of somatic anxiety comprise mental
worries and fears. In simple words, it is a type of emotional disturbance. At best emotion
subtly impairs performance by distracting the attention.
Statement of the problem

The statement of study is to explore the research problem that revolves around investigating
the challenges encountered by archery players from Arunachal Pradesh during state and
national competitions. The focus is on assessing their mental strength, coping mechanisms for
emotional stress, strategies to manage anxiety during competitions, and efforts to enhance
emotional intelligence and anxiety for a more positive and fulfilling life. In essence, the study
aims to explore the Relationship between emotional intelligence, competition anxiety levels
of Arunachal Pradesh archery players.

Sharnpreed kour, S. Shenoy(2019) study on the relationship between of trait and state
anxiety on the performance of Archers. The purpose of this study was to the effect of anxiety
on performance of archers and specially the study was aimed at exploring the relationship of
both trait and state anxiety. The sample size taken was 80 subjects were taken, 34 female
(42.5%) and 46 male (57.5%) and questionnaire were filled by researcher after subjects give

used to assess the state and trait anxiety respectively. The Result revealed that observed a
significant negative correlation of trait anxiety and somatic component of CSAI-2 with the

Anxiety Inventory CSAI-2 and Mental Toughness Inventory (MTI)-36-item questionnaire.
Their Cognitive, somatic anxiety, and self-confidence were measured through the CSAI-2
rating scale; and through MTI, 12 components of mental toughness namely self-efficacy,
personal bests, goal commitment, stress minimization, task specification, self-belief about
potential, perseverance, positive comparison, task value, task familiarity, positivity and
mental self-concept were measured. The results revealed a positive co-relation between the
mental toughness component self-belief about the potential (0.42) with parents, task-specific
attention (0.31) with friends and stress minimization (0.31) with team mates. The results were
significant at 0.05 level, one-tail. The results indicated a negative correlation between task
value (-0.39) with friends and personal bests (-0.32) with Coach, which were found
significant at 0.05 level, one-tail. On the other hand, there was no significance between
mental toughness components and the anxiety scale.

archers. The purposive sampling technique was used to select of samples. Measure emotional
intelligence variable of selected subject Mangal emotional intelligence inventory was used.
The test-retest reliability coefficient of this inventory was 0.81 which was statistically
significant and denotes a very high level of reliability of the inventory scores. The descriptive
statistical method was used in conducting the profile study like mean, standard deviation,
standard error of mean, variance, range, skewness, kurtosis, etc. The result reveals that there

how and to what extent a player's psychology affects their performance. For the purpose of
the study was thirty male archers between the age of 15 and 30 years with at least one year of
experience were divided into experimental and control groups. An Emotional Intelligence

psychological arousals, and concentration levels during competition. The results revealed that
demonstrates that object focus and high concentration workouts improve shooting results;
accordingly, psychological stability of an archer is required to attain maximum scores during
competition and for optimal eye focus.

variable were tested for the significance of difference by unpaired t-test. The results revealed
the Mean and SD values of Emotional Intelligence of male Athletes and Archers were
143.47±8.01 and 135.97±13.23 respectively. The obtained “t” value 2.6558 (2.00) was found
statistically significant level of significance. The study concluded that information It is
evident that the results of Unpaired t- test between two groups with regard to the parameter
emotional intelligence total were found to be statistically significant (P>0.05). Since the
obtained “t” value 2.6558 (2.00) was found statistically significant.
