1) Numbers
a) Vocabulary and definitions for sets of numbers: Natural numbers, Integers, Rational
Numbers, Real numbers. Expressing simple facts using membership relation.
b) Use of the four operations and brackets, precedence of operations (including posit-
ive and negative numbers).
c) Calculations of powers and roots.
d) Highest common factors and lowest common multiple of two integers.
e) Rounding numbers, decimal places, and significant figures. Standard form.
f) Percentages, ratios, fractions, equivalence of.
g) Calculations involving speed, time and distance.
h) Unit conversions (including units of area and volume)

2) Algebra
a) Manipulation on algebraic expressions. Simplification. Expansion.
b) Finding the value of an algebraic expression for given values of variables. May in-
volve powers and surds.
c) Linear equations. Word problems leading to a linear equation.
