As has become common in superhero comics, a dead Marvel Comics character has
returned to the land of the living.

James “Rhodey” Rhodes aka War Machine was killed by Thanos at the start of
2016’s Civil War II.
His death became the wedge that drove apart Tony Stark and Carol Danvers and
resulted in the second superhero war. The end of Civil War II saw Tony Stark suffer a
fatal attack, but years of experimenting on his DNA had the unexpected effect of
saving his life and putting him in a restorative coma. Though it's not clear exactly
how he did it, after Tony awoke from his coma, he was able to apply the same
principle to Rhodey, thus bringing his friend back to life.
As you can see from the artwork below, the whole process had the unfortunate side
effect of leaving each hero bald.

Rhody wasted little time getting back into his War Machine armor and joining Tony in
breaking up a super villain battle between the Hood and Doctor Doom’s forces.
While Rhodey was incapacitated, Frank Castle suited up in the War Machine armor
and used it for his own purposes, so we imagine Rhodey will have something to say
to Frank about that.
Rhodey’s is one of numerous superheroes who have treated the barrier between life
and death like a revolving door. Bendis in particular has made a habit of putting his
toys back how he found them, like how he essentially brought back every Avenger
he killed during his lengthy run, so it's not a surprise to see Rhodey alive once more
now that Bendis has delivered his final issue of his Iron Man run.
And for more on Iron Man, watch this video analyzing Bendis’ run on the character:
