CREDENTIALS AND PORTFOLIO CALL FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE IDEAS

COMPETITION FOR THE DESIGN OF THE NEW CAMPUS OF THE AMERICAN


SCHOOL OF QUITO

1. Letter of Interest
A signed Letter of Interest from the design team representative, which should not only express
the team's interest in participating in the competition process but also detail their motivation
and availability to carry out the project. (Annex A.1)
2. Identification of Participating Teams
CV of the participating offices, including:

Awards and recognitions received in any type of constructed building. (Table 1) Awards have
been categorized into two levels: First Prize (Up to 5)
Second Prize or Honorable Mentions (Up to 5)
The awards and recognitions for the projects presented may be different from those presented
in the general and specific experience, with no minimum or maximum square meter limit.
The mathematical evaluation index for scoring will be determined by the maximum requested
limit, which is 5 awards in each category.

3. Participant Identification:
The teams must submit a list of team members, with a maximum of 10 (Table 2: the minimum
core team is determined in the table). This list will be accompanied by a summary of their
curriculum vitae, with a maximum of 150 words. Please indicate the name of the team
representative.

4. Experience
The evaluation of participants' experience will be based on the presented constructed works
and will have two components:
a. Quantitative Evaluation
b. Qualitative Evaluation

a. QUANTITATIVE EVALUATION: The total square meters presented will be evaluated


according to the mathematical index resulting from the total square meters requested. Any
excess square meters beyond the requested total will not be considered for scoring. The
project details should be presented in the attached tables.

b. QUALITATIVE EVALUATION: The projects presented will be assessed based on the


following parameters: architectural quality, innovation, positive impact, and environmental
concern. For the qualitative evaluation of the projects presented in tables 3, 4, 5, and 6, the
following should be submitted:
• Three A3 sheets per project with explanatory graphic information.
• Certificate of authorship or co-authorship.
• Planimetry graphics and/or photographs.
• Descriptive text.
This information should be submitted without identifications or logos. It will be coded and
delivered to the judging panel, who will evaluate it anonymously, and it will be scored
accordingly."
4.1 General Experience:
Information on a maximum of 10 constructed projects of any typology (excluding educational
facilities).
a. Constructed projects of other typologies, ranging from 10,000 m2 to 30,000 m2 of gross
area, completed in Ecuador or other countries. (Table 3)
b. Constructed projects of other typologies, ranging from 2,000 m2 to 10,000 m2 of gross
area, completed in Ecuador. (Table 4)
These presented projects must be accompanied by graphic information for qualitative
evaluation (4.b.).
The projects presented cannot be duplicated in the tables.

4.2 Specific Experience:


Information on constructed educational facility projects.
c. Constructed educational facility projects, ranging from 5,000 m2 to 30,000 m2 of gross
area, completed in Ecuador or other countries. Maximum of 5 projects. (Table 5)
d. Constructed educational facility projects, ranging from 2,000 m2 to 20,000 m2 of gross
area, completed in Ecuador. Maximum of 3 projects. (Table 6)
These presented projects must be accompanied by graphic information for qualitative
evaluation (4.b.).
The projects presented cannot be duplicated in the tables.

5. Participant Criteria:

a. How does the team define architectural quality or design quality, in a maximum of 250
words?

b. What methodology will the team employ to achieve quality in the design, within 250
words?

c. What strategies does the team propose to achieve a successful balance between cost and
design, in no more than 250 words?

d. How does the team define innovation in relation to the use of materials and technology,
versus sustainable and environmentally responsible design, within a 250-word limit?

e. What aspect does the team consider a top priority in an educational facility project, within
250 words?

f. How does the team believe their project will have a positive impact on the American
School of Quito community and society as a whole, in a maximum of 250 words?

g. What sets your proposal apart, and what would make it the best choice, in a 250-word
response?
