Review on: Bungo Stray Dogs

The anime TV series Bungo Stray Gogs is one of my absolute favourite TV shows of all time. This anime series is
adapted from Kafka Asagiri’s manga and is set in a world where supernatural abilities and literary greats collide. One
of the most exciting parts of Bungo Stray Dogs lies is its extraordinary characters. The series introduces us to a mix of
individuals, each named after renowned authors or literary figures, who possess superhuman abilities reflecting their
namesakes’ works. Such as Osamu Dazai, who was a Japanese write, and his ability is ‘No Longer Human’ a book
written by the real life Osamu Dazai. This wide variety of characters varies from famous British authors, to Russian
novelists and even Japanese poets. The plot of this story is thick with plot twists that keep the watcher on the edge
of their seat. What I absolutely love about this series is that it covers backstories of characters but only to a certain
point so that the audience can make their own decisions and theories about the characters and their intentions.
However, some parts in this series are quite graphic and violent even though it is animated, which can lead to
different opinions on who this series is targeted at whether that being teenagers or young adults. My absolute
favourite character is Chuuya Nakahara who works for the opposing organisation ‘The Port Mafia’. Chuuya has an
incredible character design in terms of background and physical appearance. The real life Chuuya Nakahara was a
Japanese poet who was best know for ‘For The Tainted Sorrow’. So in my opinion Bungo Stay Dogs is an excellent
choice of a action packed anime series.
