1 shoot smart
The best way to get the most content you can is to start by
shooting smartly. Start by asking yourself these questions.

Can I have a mini-studio?

If you often need to set up a background or lights to shoot, is there an area you can keep set
up and ready to go? Or is there a way to make setting up and breaking down faster? Shooting
in your space with no setup will allow you to take better photos more often..

Can I shoot more than one thing at a time?

As long as you are shooting, can you take photos of more than one thing?

Feeling cute?
When taking videos or photos of yourself, can you do several at the same time? Consider
changing your clothes or location so all of your photos and videos don’t look exactly the
same. When they do, people might think it’s a post they’ve already seen and scroll right past.

Do I have a shot checklist?

With a checklist, you’ll be sure you don’t miss a shot. Below are some questions to ask yourself
before you begin. You can customize your own shot checklist on page 3. I’ve provided some
ideas as a starting point.

Do I have too many photos and videos?

Trick question! There’s no such thing as “too many photos!” Cloud storage is cheap. Your time
and effort are not. Do it all now so you don’t have to redo it all later. I’ve never regretted taking
“too many” photos

Can you shoot with two devices at once?

ANGLES: This can give you two different views of the same scene. For example, one can be
overhead, and the other can be set up so we can see you.

ASPECT RATIO: Can you shoot so your video or photo can be used vertically, or horizontally?
Vertical video is perfect for Instagram Reels, Tiktoks and YouTube shorts. Horizontal video
is best for long-form YouTube content. You might want to think about square for LinkedIn.
Set yourself up for as many options as possible by using two devices to get landscape and
portrait shots at the same time.

IF YOU DON’T HAVE TWO DEVICES, perhaps you can shoot at a distance that will allow you
to crop in to get any aspect ratio you want. Or set up your shot in a way that allows you to
rotate the image 90° without it appearing strange. Overhead shots can often work well for this.

2 process smart
You have a ton of photos and videos now!
What do you do with them?

What’s the smartest way to do this?

EDITING: While you are editing images, can you do them all at once? Is there a preset or filter
you can use or create to make it go faster?

TEMPLATES: Make them. Love them. Use them. If you use Canva, set up your brand kit so
your logos, fonts, and colors are ready for you all the time.

MULTIPLES: As long as you are making one image or video, can you make several while in
the groove? Check out the next pages to figure out everything you want to make!

PRESCHEDULE: Preschedule those future posts right away OR make draft posts that will be
ready when you need them.

Will I be able to find things later?

KEEP YOUR ASSETS ORGANIZED. Make sure you have a naming convention and folder
system to store all unprocessed videos and photos. Once you process them, keep those
organized and named clearly. Store any assets you make in advance where you can find
them easily. If you’re using a scheduler such as Metricool or Later, you could load them as
drafts right away.

How can you get the absolute most out of it?

Take one video...

HORIZONTAL VIDEO VERTICAL VIDEO
YouTube TikTok
LinkedIn Instagram & Facebook Reels
(LinkedIn can also take square videos) YouTube shorts

RE-EDIT THE VIDEO

Speed it up or slow it down
Show only part of the process
Remix it with other videos or photos to talk about it differently
Rethink how the video can be used - What can it teach? What does it show?
Meme it - use a trending meme or audio

ARE THERE STILLS FROM THE VIDEO THAT CAN BE USED AS PHOTOS?

Take one photo...

Recrop the photo
Rethink what you can say about it
Reframe: Put a border around it, or use it as part of a collage or carousel
Reprocess: Treat the color differently (black and white, duotone, etc.)
Use an alternate version of that photo for another post
Remix: Use it in a video along with other photos or animation

Don’t stop there...

Everything you just made should be used on your blog,
in your emails, as ads, and on any other platform you use.
They can also be reposted as is or with minor changes at a later date.
