Celebrating the
great British apple
British apples were celebrated
once again by the heswall-based
Wirral Wildlife group (local branch of
Cheshire Wildlife trust).
two events were held at the
beginning of October, one at
Brimstage hall and one at Eastham
Country Park.
A total of 27 varieties of apples from
Brimstage, Willaston and Landican were
on display and could be tasted.
Juice was made from these local
apples using a traditional wooden press
and although the juice is a brownish
colour as it isnt fltered or treated its
favour surpasses anything you can buy.
Children took part in the Longest Apple
Peel competition and the winning piece
was 236 cm long.

IT was great to see the ofcial relaunch of Heswall
Hall last month. The centre has been taken over by
the community so its important that we use this
facility in the future.
Also in this months magazine is a feature on
Heswall Primary School, and more specifcally the
great strides they have made in developing the
grounds with a forest trail and outdoor classroom.
This was showcased at an environment and
recycling week recently.
Theres also news of a recent fashion show, a
wedding, lots of local news and a big whats on
guide for November.

HESWALL police are working with partners and communities to take illegal freworks
off the streets. They are asking people to attend one of the many organised bonfre and
frework displays available.

Shoplifting campaign
POLiCE have arrested a number of suspected thieves following a campaign to crack
down on shoplifting in heswall town centre.
Drink driving conviction
A 40-year-old woman from hinderton Drive, heswall, has been banned from driving
for 17 months and fned 100 after being convicted of drink driving on Pensby Road,
heswall.
Catwalk queens
Over 100 local ladies attended West Wirral Inner Wheels Fashion Show at
the Grange, Thornton Hough. This was most successful raising over 1000
which will be donated to Inner Wheel charities. The models were nearly all
members of Inner Wheel but President Lizs friend was persuaded to model
along with the daughter of one of a member.

Shoplifters sentenced
Wirral Magistrates sentenced 41-year-old Daniel McKeown, 41, from Lloyd Avenue,
Birkenhead, to 52 weeks imprisonment for theft from shops.
sarah Meredith, 32, from Lincoln street, Birkenhead, was given a 12 month
supervision order for theft from shops in Pensby Road. She was also fned 100 and
ordered to pay 177.90 in compensation.

cash for the Montse Benitez Foundation.

Familys tribute to tragic
road crash victim
thE family of a 17-year-old Wirral boy who was killed
in a car crash in heswall have paid tribute to him.
Jonny Brown was a passenger in a Ford Fiesta which
collided with a Nissan Micra on telegraph road last
month. the Upton teenager was tragically killed, while
fve other people were injured in the crash.
in a statement, his parents said: Jonathan was a
truly remarkable and inspirational son, full of life, love
and had a wicked sense of humour.
Jonathan had an exciting adult life ahead of him
which had only just begun. sadly this was cruelly
taken from him at such an early age.
Flowers and other tributes were left at the scene
of the crash as groups of friends visited to pay their
respects.
And more than 2,000 people have joined a Facebook
group to remember Jonnys cheeky grin and caring
nature.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is
asked to call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 5444.

THERE are some fabulous outdoor developments taking place at Heswall
Primary School.
head teacher John roberts has been keen to make use of the grounds to create and
outdoor learning environment.
Last month, the school staged an environmental and recycling week where pupils took
part in all manner of activities outside the classroom, including den building and making
a nature trail.
Four Wirral primary schools visited during the week, which culminated in a harvest
festival on the Friday.
Mr robertss aim is to develop the grounds so that heswall Primary can be a leader in
outdoor education.

Shadowlands Brothers Reunite for Chilling
Thriller

Award winning local amateur theatre company Neston Players next production will
reunite two of its leading lights back together on stage since their memorable
performances in Players successful production of Shadowlands.

Michael Kennedy and Gordon Wallis who played C.S Lewis and his brother Warnie
in Shadowlands will be taking to the stage in the Neston Players next production, the

Gordon, winner of the NODA North West Best Supporting Actor for his performance in

the play centres around Leonard Vole, who is arrested for the murder of his elderly friend,
Miss Emily French, a woman who depended on his advice for managing her money. Because
Emily changed her Will in Leonards favour shortly before her murder the situation looks bad for
Leonard. he convinces sir Wilfred robarts QC of his innocence but in the mounting tension of
the trial there are amazing developments and when Voles wife, romaine, takes the stand she
appears not in his defence but as a witness for the prosecution. With the usual Agatha Christie
twists and turns, how will the trial end?
