Narrative Report
Catch-Up Friday – February 2, 2024
School Year 2023-2024

I. Introduction:

Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 001 Series of 2024, Catch Up Fridays

commenced on January 12, 2024, with an orientation session followed by
the inaugural day of activities. The program aims to provide
additional support and learning opportunities for students who may have
encountered challenges during the previous academic year, ensuring that
they are equipped with the necessary skills to succeed.
As a dedicated part of the school stakeholders, fostering a positive
and productive learning environment has always been our top priority. In
pursuit of this goal, the Grade 9 teachers conducted "Catch Up Friday" to
address the diverse needs of our students. This project aimed to provide
additional support, reinforcement, and opportunities for enrichment to
ensure that every student could thrive academically.
Strengthening values, health, and peace education is necessary in
accordance with the National Reading Program (DO. 013, s. 2023) being
implemented as a crucial part of the National Learning Recovery Program
(NLRP). As stated in the DM 001 s 2023, Sinalhan Integrated High School
adopted and participated in the Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) Day
launch to start Catch-up Friday activities 2024. This activity aim to
increase students' academic performance, especially the low
proficiency levels in a reading-based evaluation, by introducing them to
various activities on independent silent reading. Various reading and
enrichment tasks are assigned to learners. Some used their boggles to
practice spelling and reading, some were given worksheets to read
and complete, some were given tasks involving the use of ICT, and the
remaining group members were divided into groups for peer teaching and
group study.
