• In 1953 the Ministry of Transport was established to
oversee all aspects of transport: roads, railways, and
ports.
• In 1975 the Ministry of Transport started to establish
the Saudi ports, the Saudi railways and become
responsible for planning, designing, constructing and
maintaining the roads and the bridges.
• Saudi Arabia has built a massive network as:

3.Air Transport

-Started out in 1945


-It is the Saudi Arabian flag carrier Airlines.
-It is responsible for the transportation
of passengers and baggage on its domestic and international flights.
-The airline now operates more than 140 aircraft, providing a means of transport
to more than 34 million annual passengers to 95 destinations around the world.

-It was opened in 1983
-Its operational capacity is 7.5 million passengers annually.
2. Dhahran International Airport (Closed 1999)
-Built in the Eastern Region in 1953.
-It was the Kingdom's first international airport.
-It is an international transit point for European and Asian
airlines.
3. King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah
-It was built in 1981.
-Each of its three terminals is considered a separate airport.
-There is one for domestic flights, another for international
flights and a third for pilgrim flights.
4. King Fahd International Airport in the Eastern Region
This is the Kingdom's most modern airport.

Jeddah Islamic Seaport on Red Sea is the largest
and busiest port and it's located in Jeddah.

-Jizan and Yanbu on the Red Sea.
-Jubail and Dammam on the Arabian Gulf.

•There are 112 maritime companies in the Kingdom


which owns 11 ships and has shares in 48 others.
•Saudi Arabia has made heavy investments in developing
•its international port facilities. It has around 20 ports and terminals.
