I like the freedom, creativity and imagination people can have in animations. The artwork
communicates this by my silhouette posing in a flying pose, which we can do whatever we
want in animation. The different possibilities in animation also delivers the idea to try
everything possible, people can also try new things in real life. I put many elements of classic
animation in my artwork including Peppa pig, Winnie the pooh, and Mickey mouse to
present my visual culture. The flying posed silhouette also shows the theme of animation is
something we can enjoy playing with. My silhouette also interacts with cartoon character,
the eagle. The patterns Swoon used in her artwork inspired me in decorating the mountain
in patterns like her.
Composition technique:
landscape arrangement - showing the beautiful landscape of mountain and water
collage and overlapping - overlapping of the balloons shows there are many balloons.
asymmetrical balance - descending pattern of the mountains.
Contrast- The silhouette and the cardboard collaged on my artwork stands out by the higher
hight. Cutting the cardboard showing the inside layer of the cardboard stands out by the
wave pattern.
Elements of art/principles of design:
Texture- using hot glue gun creating a smooth texture of water. I also used paper to create
the texture of flowers which are thin and fragile. The thick line I used to stick for micky
mouse to hold the balloons shows the texture of line.
Colour- Using bright and colorfull colors to show the upgoing tone of the artwork. The back
ground uses different variations of blue, creating a sense of variety in animation.
Pattern- I used repeating shapes to create pattern in my art work. For example the
mountains that goes smaller and smaller, also the lanterns that slowly fades away, and the
repeating lines and shapes in the mountain.
What worked well is the different media used in my art work, the different pens used and
the paint. I like how I fake out the water using hot glue gun because it doesn’t have any color
like water and the texture is smooth like water. What I should improve on is to show the
topic of animation even better, because the mountains, tree and water might make
audiences not very sure about my topic.
