    The criteria for the adoption of literary works:


    (1) Faithfulness / fidelity (themes: love & violence) (Linda Hutcheon: fidelity is just a part of the
    criteria)
    e.g.: Atonement (movie) --- The Remains of the Day (novel)
    Some literatures cannot be adopted, such as Remembrance of Things Past 追 忆 似 水 年 华 ，
    Ulysses 尤利西斯.
    Sympathy & empathy
    Ambiguity in Jane Eyre
    2. The reasons why directors choose to adopt famous literatures:
    (1) Box office (commercial purpose)
    (2) To attract people who have little interest in the books themselves
    (3) They have their own understandings in specific literary works.
