Throughout history, both in the East and the West, education and literature have always been important threads interwoven
into the fabric of society. Educational philosophies have evolved and developed in tandem with the progress of society. In the
Western world, the development of the humanities can be traced back to ancient Greece, where the humanities were
foundational to the education of citizens. During the period of ancient Rome, the concept of the "trivium" and "quadrivium"
began to take shape, forming the basis for education in the Middle Ages. These subjects became the core of education during
that time, emphasizing that the humanities were as important as technical or methodological skills. The development of the
discipline of Western educational history can be traced through four stages: early emergence, initial formation, expansion and
prosperity, and diversity and deepening. This discipline has a history spanning over two centuries, nurtured by the study of
ancient Greece and Rome, the Renaissance, and modern educational history research. It has evolved into a field with a trend
of expansion and prosperity in Western educational history, characterized by diversity and deepening.
