Answer the Writing Task 1 below.


The bar chart shows the percentages of the UK workforce in five major industries in
1841 and 2011. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main
features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.

The bar graph demonstrates the portion of English's workforce in five main industries
in the period of 1841 and 2011. Overall, there was a significant change throughout the
period.
Most of UK worker were from manufacturing and services industry. In 1841, those
two industries shares a similar figure, 36% and 33% respectively. The percentage of
workforce in manufacture had a sharp reduction, to one fourth of the pervious
number. In contrast, service percentage increased sharply to 81% and became the
dominant industries in 2011.
Agriculture workforce dropped significantly in the year of 2011, from 22% to 1%.
Whereas, construction had a slight increase to 8% in 2011. Energy industry remained
the lowest workforce percentage, 3% in 1847 and 1% in 2011.
In sum up, a notable change was that services industry had more than 80% of total
workforce in UK and manufacturing reduced to the same rank as construction in 2011.
