EDUCATION SECTOR

Education for Health and Wellbeing (EHW)

The UNESCO programme in the area of Health and


Wellbeing is guided by the Strategy on Education
for Health and Wellbeing (EHW), as well as,
Priority Gender Equality Action Plan. In Tanzania,
UNESCO works with a broad range of partners to
support government and community efforts and
initiatives to ensure that all children and young
people benefit from good quality and culturally
appropriate comprehensive sexuality education
that includes HIV education. The programme also
works to ensure that all children and young people
have access to safe, inclusive, health-promoting
learning environments.

UNESCO’s interventions around EHW is in line with


the Education Sector Development Plans; the
National Multi-sectoral Strategic Framework for
HIV and AIDS (NMSF IV 2018-2023), the National
Plan of Action to End Violence against Women
and Children (2017-2022), and the National
Accelerated Action and Investment Agenda for
Adolescent Health and Wellbeing (NAIA-AHW).
Specifically, our work contributing to the following
SDGs:
