Since its civil war of 1975-1990, Lebanon does not have the ability to deliver 24-hour electivity,

having left many households completely reliant on their own generators or private neighborhood
suppliers who charge high fees to keep a few ligts on or other appliances running during regular
daily cuts that can last hours.

Over the last decade, multiple environmental and social concerns such as water scarcity, climate
change, the loss of essential natural resources, inequality and social inequity have evolved at a
high rate. The solution for all of this is going green by generating power using our natural
resources instead of fossil fuels.

The purpose of this proposal os to help the Lebanese Government to be able to provide the whole
Lebanese nation with 24-hour electricity and at the same time play a huge role in making
Lebanon a green economy state by generating electricity using natural ways like solar power.

Windows Double as Solar Panels : Fully transparent windows which produce solar power. Such
windows have solar cells mounted at a specific angle in the edges providing for the effective
conversion of the incoming solar light into electricity. These windows will generate 8 to 10 watts
of power.

The sun is by far the largest energy source in our solar system. Humans , theoretically , first used
solar energy as early as 7th century B.C. where they used sunlight to light fires with magnifying
glass materials. However , the thought of generating electricity from this energy didn't exist until
1893 when Alexandre Edmond Becquerel discovered the photovoltaic effect. Rusell ohl then in
1941 invented the solar cell. Since then solar panels have been used in many domains on earth
and in outer space including communication satellites and generating electricity.

The transfer into solar power has become very popular recently and that goes back to several
reasons. First solar energy is a renewable and free source of energy, second is its non-polluting
nature since the carbon PV cells have very small carbon footprint. Third , its low maintenance
makes it a very money saving investment considering you are now generating your own
electricity and not buying it from a supplier. Fourth , is its effect on economy knowing that the
solar panel industry is now a growing industry that can provide many well- paid jobs. Add to that
that solar panels have become very efficient along the years and have a very promising future.
