Transcript ‘Do you go to the cinema?’
‘Er, no, I don’t’, says Country Mouse.
‘Do you go to clubs?’ asks Town Mouse.
The Town Mouse and the ‘Er, no, I don’t.’
Country Mouse ‘Do you go to restaurants?’
‘Er, no, I don’t. I go to bed early.’
Part 1 ‘Oh’, says Town Mouse.
Town Mouse usually goes to bed late.
Narrator:
Oh dear!
This is the story of the Town Mouse and the Country Mouse.
This is Country Mouse.
It’s very quiet in the country. Town Mouse can’t sleep.
He lives in the country.
Town Mouse likes music.
He’s waiting for his friend.
But he still can’t sleep.
Here he is! This is Town Mouse.
He’s cold.
He’s visiting Country Mouse.
Ah! That’s better.
‘Hello, Town Mouse!’ says Country Mouse.
Poor Town Mouse!
‘Hello, Country Mouse!’ says Town Mouse.
‘Are you OK?’ asks Country Mouse.
‘Welcome to the country’, says Country Mouse.
‘Er, yes. I’m fine, fine’, says Town Mouse.
‘Oh, er, thank you’, says Town Mouse.
‘I, er, I’m going to go back to town tomorrow.’
Country Mouse likes the country very much.
‘I’m very busy.’
‘Look at the butterflies!’ says Country Mouse.
Oh dear!
‘Smell the flowers! Listen to the birds!’
Town Mouse has a good idea.
‘Oh, I know, you can come with me!’ says Town Mouse.
SONG: The Country Song ‘Er, OK’, says Country Mouse.
I walk along the road and see the trees so green.
I walk across the fields and hear the songbirds sing.
I live in the country, I don’t live in the town. SONG: The Travelling Song
I like to take things easy and watch the sun go down. We’re on the road, and we’re on our way.
We’re going to town, and it’s miles away.
I jump across the stream and see the big green frogs. It’s a long, long road, but we’re going today.
I hurry past the farm and hear the famer’s dog.
I live in the country, I don’t live in the town. We’re going to town, and it’s miles away.

Part 2 ‘What’s that?’ asks Country Mouse.
‘What?’ asks Town Mouse.
Narrator: ‘That!’ says Country Mouse.
Town Mouse lives in the town. ‘What’s that?’
‘Welcome to the town’, says Town Mouse. ‘That’s just the cat!’ says Town Mouse.
‘Oh, er, thank you’, says Country Mouse. ‘I don’t like cats!’ says Country Mouse.
Town Mouse likes the town very much. Poor Country Mouse!
‘Look at the lights!’ says Town Mouse. It’s very noisy in the town.
‘Smell the restaurants! Listen to the music!’ Country Mouse can’t sleep.
Country Mouse doesn’t like noise.
SONG: The Town Rap But he still can’t sleep. He’s hot.
I am the Town Mouse, I live in a town. Ah! That’s better!
I never stay in one place, I move around. Poor Country Mouse!
I eat fast food, I never slow down. ‘Are you OK?’ asks Town Mouse.
I am the Town Mouse, this is my town.
‘Er, yes, I’m fine, fine’, says Country Mouse.
He is the Town Mouse and this is his town!
‘I, er, I’m going to go back to the country tomorrow. I’m very busy.’

Buses and people, legs and feet! Country Mouse is going home.
It’s a dangerous place for little mice. ‘Goodbye, Country Mouse!’
But Town Mouse lives here, he thinks it’s nice! ‘Goodbye, Town Mouse!’
Country Mouse is taking the bus to the country.
I am the Town Mouse, I live in a town.
I never stay in one place, I move around. Town Mouse is staying in the town. He’s happy.
I eat fast food, I never slow down. Country Mouse is happy, too.
I am the Town Mouse, this is my town.
He is the Town Mouse and this is his town!

There are cars and bikes on every street. I don’t want to go away,
Buses and people, legs and feet! I love my house, I want to stay.
It’s a dangerous place for little mice. Happy in my home sweet home.
But Town Mouse lives here, he thinks it’s nice! I don’t like that big old town,
All that noise gets me down.
I am the Town Mouse, I live in a town. I’m happy in my home sweet home.
