GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS FOR THE DIFFERENT COMPETING


EVENTS

General Guidelines

1. For year 2023-2024 Criminology days, we will have 24 events. The following
events and activities will be divided into six categories: Sports, Street Games,
Esports, Academics, Talent, and the Main Event.

2. All students of each team who are interested to join the different competing
events must be bona fide students of the College of Criminal Justice.
3. All students of each team who are interested to join the different competing
events must belong to the five (5) participating teams to with:
a. Yellow Assassins
b. Red Commando
c. White Shinobi
d. Black Troopers
e. Blue Warriors
4. All students who are interested to join the following events are required to
furnish the committee chairman for rules a Notarized “Waiver” stating that
they are physically fit and no medical conditions before they will be permitted
to participate: (a) Basketball 5x5; (b) Basketball 3x3 Mens; (c)Basketball 3x3
Womens; (d) Volleyball Mens; (e) Volleyball Womens; (f) Badminton Doubles;
(g) Badminton Singles; (h) Tug of War Mens; (i) Tug of War Womens, (j)
Patintero; (k) Dodgeball; (l) Agawan-Panyo; (m) Amazing Race.
5. All students of each team who are interested to join the different competing
events are required to submit their “Entry Forms” through their Team
Coordinator, to the concerned Committee Chairman for rules within the
prescribed period and format.
6. Chairperson, Co-Chair or Members of the committees are allowed to join as
players/participants, as long as it is a different event than the one, they are
administering and there will be no conflict of schedule or neglect of duty.
7. Giving any false information on the entry form is a reason for immediate
disqualification.
8. All players/participants except for Mister and Miss Criminology should wear
upper garments which represents the color of their teams. Moreover, players
of sports events should wear appropriate sports attire (e.g comfortable shorts
and rubber shoes) or else they will be given technical violations.
9. All participating teams must be on time and venue five (5) minutes before
the scheduled game/competition or else they will be place in default.

11. Team who will earn the highest total point will be declared as the overall
CHAMPION.
12. All scores/points are final as received from the Judges/Committee and non-
appealable.
13. All winners in the different competing events will be given with the following
Major Awards/Prizes:

b. 1st Place – Certificate
c. 2nd Place – Certificate

14. For Academic Event:
a. Champion: Medal, Trophy, Certificate
b. 1st Place: Medal, Certificate
c. 2nd Place: Medal, Certificate
15. Any violation of these guidelines shall be a ground for immediate
disqualification or forfeiture of Awards/Prize.

Specific Guidelines

A. BASKETBALL 5X5
1. Each team shall be composed of exactly fifteen (15) players.
2. FIBA basketball rules.
3. The game is divided into four quarters with ten minutes in each quarter
except in the last 5 minutes of last quarter and overtime wherein the clock
is in stop time and the shot clock is set to 24 seconds. Each quarter consist
of two full time out.
4. The first two quarters, there will be mandatory substitution for every 5
minutes to give all player playing time.
5. Captain ball has 6 personal fouls, the rest has 5 personal fouls.
6. The team who will get two (2) loses in the first ball game will be
automatically eliminated in the game
7. Special awards will be given aside from the major awards stated in the
general guidelines

B. BASKETBALL 3X3
1. It is only available for first year to third year for men’s and first year to
fifth year for women’s
2. Each team shall be composed of a minimum of three (3) and maximum of
six (6) players; three (3) will start, Three (3) for substitution.
3. The regular playing time shall be as follows: one period of Twelve (10)
minutes playing time. The clock shall be stopped during dead ball
situations and free throws. The clock shall be restarted after the
exchange of the ball is completed.
4. The first team to score 21 points or more wins the game if it happens before
the end of regular playing time. This rule applies to regular playing time
only (not in a potential overtime).
5. Every successful shot inside the arc shall be awarded 1 point. Every
successful shot behind the arc shall be awarded 2 points. Every successful
free throw shall be awarded 1 point.
6. A team is in a penalty situation after it has committed 6 fouls.
7. Substitutions can be done by any team when the ball becomes dead, prior
to the check-ball. The substitute can enter the game after his teammate

steps off the court and establishes a physical contact with him.
Substitutions can only take place behind the end line opposite the basket
and substitutions require no action from the referees or table officials.
8. One 30-second time-out is granted to each team. A player can call the time-
out in a dead ball situation.
9. The team who will get two (2) loses in the first ball game will be
automatically eliminated in the game.

C. VOLLEYBALL
1. 12 players per team
2. Two losses out
i. 3 sets on elimination round and semis
ii. First to get 2 sets will win the match
iii. 21 pts per set in elimination
iv. 25 pts per set in the semis and finals
3. Four (4) teams will advance to the semis after the elimination round.
4. Players must hit the ball three times per side in order to continue the game.
5. Touching the net with any part of the body while the ball is in play is
illegal.
6. Special awards will be given aside from the major awards stated in the
general guidelines.

D. BADMINTON MIXED DOUBLES


1. Each team must have 2 representatives, a total of 10 participants for the
event
2. Two (2) Losses out
i. 1 set on elimination round, first to get 21 points will win the
match
ii. 3 sets on semis with 25 points per set, first to get 2 sets advance to
finals
3. Four (4) teams will advance to the semis after the elimination round.

E. BADMINTON SINGLES
1. Each team must have 1 representative, a total of 5 participants for the
event
2. Two (2) Losses out
i. 1 set on elimination round, first to get 21 points will win the
match
ii. 3 sets on semis with 25 points per set, first to get 2 sets advance to
finals
3. Four (4) teams will advance to the semis after the elimination round.

F. CHESS
1. 2 representative each team, a total of 10 participants for the event
2. Single round roving.
3. Top 5 winners will advance to semis
4. 20 minutes each game, the timer will start once the first piece was moved.
G. PATINTERO
1. Each team must have 5 representatives, a total of 25 participant in the said
event.
2. Two (2) Lose out, Top 4 team will advance to semis
3. It will be played by passers and blockers, the winner via coin toss will have
the power to choose either to play as passers or blockers.
4. A total of 3 minutes playing each round, with 2 rounds per game
5. Each box passed by the passers will be equivalent to 1 point, if the
passers was touch by the blockers the game will be stopped.
6. For the tag to be valid, you must stay in your lane and keep both of your
feet on the ground.

H. DODGEBALL
1. Each team shall be composed of ten (10) members, five (5) males and five
(5) females.
2. Playing Procedures:
i. Play will be 20 on 20. A minimum of 18 members is required to
start the game.
ii. Play will be held inside the Rectangle w/ Center Line Court.
iii. Substitution will be allowed during change of quarter. Team
may substitute between games.
iv. There will be (2) Two Quarter in Each game. Time will be divided
into 1/2. Example: 5 minutes of game divided into two equals to
2 minutes and 50 seconds. Therefore, every quarter is composed
of 2 minutes and 50 seconds game.
v. No substitutions will be allowed once a game has started, expect
for injuries. There is a 15 second stall count between each game
for substitutions. No substitutions will be allowed after the 15
second count.
vi. (5) Minutes of game for Preliminaries, (7) Minutes of game for
Semi-Finals and (10) Minutes of game for Finals. Team with the
most wins in the 10 minutes will be deemed the winner. If teams
are tied, there will be a sudden death game to determine match
winner.
vii. Note: Death Game is Composed of 5 minutes game.
Offensive/Defensive play will be decided in a Toss Coin.
viii. All players must wear non-marking rubber-soled athletic shoes,
if available their Team-shirt.

ix. Game time is forfeit time, if your team is not there at your
scheduled time you will forfeit.
x. Team will switch ends of the court between every game.

3. The Game:
i. The objective of dodgeball is to eliminate all players of the
opposing team by throwing game balls and hitting the opposing
player below the shoulders on the fly.
ii. Starting the Game. The Offensive/Defensive Position will be
selected by a Toss Coin. Every hit is composed of 1 point.
iii. Eliminating the Opposing Players
iv. A player is out if:
1. They throw a ball that is caught by the other team.
2. They get hit by a ball thrown by the other team.
3. They hit another player above the shoulders.
4. They cross the center line.
v. A player is not out if:
1. Their ball is caught off the wall or ceiling.
2. They get hit above the shoulders.
vi. Out of Bounds. A ball that hit any wall or ceiling is considered
dead and is not back in play until someone has picked up the
balls and throws it at an opponent.
vii. Off-Sides. The center line is the off-sides line. If any part of
your foot or body touches the center line, you will be declared
out and thrown ball will be dead.
viii. Stall Count. No player can hold the ball for longer than 5
seconds. Penalty- roll the ball gently to the other team. The
opposing team is responsible for calling the stall count. For
example: Stall 1, Stall 2, Stall 3…Stall 5. Then at this point the
player must roll the ball over or is out.
ix. Court Procedures. Players are expected to be honest and take
themselves out when the time comes. Once a player is out,
they must stand with their back against the team’s right-side
wall. Players should not squat due to risk of being hit. Do not
leave the racquetball court during game play unless an injury
occurs.

I. TUG OF WAR
1. Every team can accommodate a maximum of ten (10) members. However,
the combined weight of these members should not exceed eight hundred
kilos (800 kg)
2. Every team must have one (1) group of participants for Male Category and
another one (1) group for Female Category
3. The game involves usage of rope with a red mark in the middle. This red

mark on the rope needs to be at perpendicular angle to the exact center
point on the ground before the commencement of the game. A white mark
is made exactly thirteen (13) feet from the red mark on either side of the
rope.
4. The objective of the game is for each team to pull the rope along with the
members of opposition team to their side. As soon as the referee blows
the whistle, each team can start pulling the rope into their territory
5. As soon as the white mark on the rope from the center red mark crosses
over to center line, the team to pull the rope to their area three (3) times
wins the game
6. Foul which can call in for disqualification:
 Lowering elbow below the knee level while pulling the rope or
“locking”
 Touching the ground for a long period of time
7. The team who will get two (2) loses will be automatically eliminated in
the game

J. AGAWAN-PANYO
1. Each team must have 5 representatives, a total of 25 participant in the said
event.
2. Two (2) Lose out, Top 4 team will advance to semis
3. The game will last 5 minutes and the teams who has a highest score wins
4. The Host will shout a number, only number who are called can only get
the towel. If a number was not called and goes to middle the team will be
disqualified and the points will go to the opposing team.
K. AMAZING RACE

L. MOBILE LEGENDS BANGBANG


1. Six (6) Players per team, One (1) for substitution.
2. The team with the most losses will be eliminated
3. Tournament Draft Pick
4. Best of Three (3) Games in Semi-Final Round
5. Best of Five (5) Games in Championship
6. Maximum of 2 Pause Per Team Every Game
7. Allowed Emotes and Spam Recall, Strictly No Trash talk in Overall Chat.

N. CASE BASED SCENARIO
TO BE ANNOUNCED

O. QUIZ BEE
1. Each participating team should have a team of five members compose of
one (1) member per year level (1st – 5th year).
2. The questions will cover Criminology Major Subjects from the following
Areas: (1) Criminology; (2) Law Enforcement Administration; (3) Criminal
Detection and Investigation; (4) Correctional Administration; (5) Criminal
Law and Jurisprudence; (6) Criminalistics.
3. There is No elimination round in the competition.
4. The competition is composed of three (3) rounds with ten (10) questions
each. Easy Round - 5pts; Intermediate Round - 10pts; and Difficult Round
- 15pts
5. Each Set is made up of multiple choice and identification type of questions.
6. The question will be read twice and will be projected on Screen. A thirty
second timer will start after the quiz master says “GO”.
7. Each team will write their answer on the provided answer board.
8. Each Team will be assigned a team number that must be placed on the
upper righthand corner of the answer board for proper identification.
9. The answer will be announced and projected on screen after the timer
expires for every question.
10. The proctors in the competition will validate the answer if it is correct or
wrong and if there are queries, the proctors will answer that particular
query.
11. The team which garnered the highest total number of points in the
competition will be declared the champion. The next team will be declared
as Runner-Up.

P. FIREARM ASSEMBLY AND DISASSEMBLY


1. There are 5 teams and each team consist of 4 representatives
2. The participants will raise both hands before starting, once they put their
hands down marks the start of official time.
3. The 1st representative of the team will be the one to disassemble the Taurus
9mm,
4. After the 1st person who disassembled the firearm, he/she will run back
and tap the 2nd person
5. The next person will then start to assemble the firearm. This will go on until
the last participant assembles the firearm
6. The team with the shortest time wins
Manner of Disassembly and Assembly for Taurus 9mm are the following:
a. Release first the magazine

b. Check the chamber 3x and unload/remove empty catridges case
c. Position the firearm in vertical form
d. Remove the slide top
e. Separate the slide from the frame
f. Remove the recoil spring followed by the recoil spring guide
g. Remove the barrel

General Rule:
 Upon disassembly and assembly of firearms, the parts should be
placed properly and in an orderly manner.
 Additional ten (10) seconds will be added on the official time of
the group for every violation.
 Upon discretion of the judge/s, if the participant could not
disassemble, assemble and fire the firearm, the judge/s and/or
member of the committee will assist but still the participants will be
given penalty of One (1) minute additional on their official time.
 Violations will be recorded by the judge/s and/or member of the
committee.
 Violations will be tallied and total to identify the number of
violations in the competition.
Violations:
 Trigger finger on the trigger.
 Improper checking of chamber/ejection port.
 Improper and/or disorganize placement of firearm parts.
 Participant who will run immediately without waiting for him to
be tapped.

Q. HANDWRITING IDENTIFICATION
1. Each team will send representatives in a group composed of two (2)
students with one (1) male and (1) female participants.
2. The competition on handwriting identification will be in 45 minutes only.
3. Each participant will be given one set of standard handwriting template
grouped into two.
4. The participants will identify and match the 30 combinations.
5. The participants who completed the 30 combinations must submit
immediately the template to the officials for recording. Each submitted
template will be numbered upon submission.
6. The first and down to the last participants who submitted will be ranked
based on their number of correct answers. In case of a tie, the reference
number (marked during submission of the template) will define who
submitted first among them.

R. ESSAY WRITING CONTEST
1. Each team shall have five participants. One participant per year level.
2. The theme – “Paving the Journey to be a Dignified Criminologist
through Fortitude”.
3. The Committee shall invite three (3) prominent and reputable persons
with known expertise in the fields of speech, drama, statistics,
education, mass communication and /or related disciplines to act as
judges.

4. The Board of judges shall provide the topic of the essay at the venue of the
competition.
5. The participants shall be given one (1) hour to develop the composition.
6. At least 300 words required.
7. The participants shall be provided with a pen and three (3) pieces of
short bond paper marked with the assigned number duly signed by the
contest master. They are prohibited to write their names and the team
they are representing.
8. No printed materials, electronic gadgets, or storage devices shall be
utilized.
9. The participants are prohibited to wear their team uniform or any
symbol/s that mark distinction of their respective team.
10. Each participant shall be assigned a number on the hour of the
competition.
11. The result of the contest shall be posted on the tally board immediately
after the judges have finished rating the participant’s manuscripts.
12. The judges’ decision is final.

S. POSTER MAKING CONTEST


1. Each participant should submit one (1) entry only.
2. The poster must illustrate, interpret, and emphasize the theme.
3. All entries must be done on the spot and must be completed within the
allotted time of two (2) hours.
4. The poster must be done in free hand using the following materials to be
provided by each contestant: Pencils, Oil Pastel and Marker. The only
material that would be provided by the CEC Officers is the Oslo Paper.
5. The theme for the poster making shall be: "Leading with the Willingness
to Serve: The UDM-Criminology Way"
6. All entries must be pre-numbered. No other identifying marks will be
allowed to appear in the slogan.
7. All entries shall be judged by the Board of Judges.
The entries will be judged according to the following criteria:
i. Relevance to the Theme - 30%

T. VIDEO DOCUMENTARY
Date of Event:

1. Each team must have one group as representative.


2. The participating group must have a minimum of Ten (10)
and maximum of fifteen (15) members in a group.
3. It must be a line to the Theme of the event.
Theme: "“Rising Above: Celebrating the Power of Perseverance,
Camaraderie, and Criminology’s Success Stories ".
4. The Video Documentary should have a minimum of Fifteen (15)
and maximum of Twenty (20) minutes.
5. Criteria for Judging:
● Visual/Design - 40%
o Cinematography
o Creativity
● Message/Content - 40%
o Theme
o Content and Quality
● Audience Votes - 20%

6. By February 16, 2023, all video documentaries must be passed to the


committee of the contest.
7. The people can watch the video documentary, but he or she must
avail a ticket worth Php 20.00 every ticket has point equivalent that
can affect the total score accumulated. The highest sales video
documentary will win PEOPLE’S CHOICE awards and 20% of total
percentage in the said criteria

U. MR. AND MS. CRIMINOLOGY

1. Each competing team will select two representatives for Crim Week, one for
Mr. Criminology and one for Ms. Criminology, based on their preferences and
selection criteria.
2. Each candidate will compete in the following categories:
1 Introduction - Candidates will be dressed in the shirts from their
respective teams when they are presented on the competition night.
They will be evaluated based on:
a. Poise and Bearing - 25%
b. Introduction - 50%
c. Figure - 25%
2. Casual Interview - in this category, the candidates will be interviewed
by the emcees. They will be evaluated based on:
a. Delivery - 20%
b. Context - 50%
c. Stage Presence - 15%
d. Poise and Bearing - 15%
3. Sports Wear - Candidates will be required to dress in their athletic
clothing for this category. They will be evaluated based on:
a. The sportswear presented - 50%
b. Poise and Bearing - 20%
c. Figure - 30%
4. Talent Portion - After the sportswear competition, candidates must
showcase their talents in a way of their own discretion. They will be
evaluated based on:
a. Talent - 50%
b. Execution - 50%
5. Formal Attire - Candidates for this category must present
themselves with dignity and grace while wearing formal attire. They
will be evaluated based on:
a. Poise and Bearing - 50%
b. Figure - 25%
c. Design and Fitting - 25%
6. Questions and answers will be evaluated following the formal attire.
The judge selected will ask the contestant a question based on the
number they choose from the box. In 45 seconds, each candidate will
give a succinct response. They will be evaluated based on their
applicability, relevance, and significance to the given question:
a. Intelligence - 30%
b. Poise and Personality - 15%
c. Context - 20%

Piso-Vote - 20%

3. The candidate with the largest number of piso-votes will be awarded as the
PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD and will automatically receive 20% in the imaginary
competition. MR. AND MS. PHOTOGENIC will be given to the candidate with the
most official photo reactions, comments, and shares.

V. TEAM CHANTS
1. All teams must have a presentation in the form of chant with the theme:
“Rising Above: Celebrating the Power of Perseverance, Camaraderie, and
Criminology’s Success Stories”
2. The mechanics criteria are as follows:
a. Performance must be at least 1 min and shall not exceed to 3mins.
(Points will be deducted for Teams who will exceed in time limit.)
b. Use of whistle and body props are allowed. Drums and other
instruments are prohibited.
c. Profanity and other inappropriate languages are strictly prohibited.
d. All Teams are allowed to use Filipino and/or English in
performance.
